Be warned, you pay top money for a very mediocre experience. We paid 350 bucks, for not even a full dining experience for three persons. I guess we could have been more careful and watched our back pockets, but who wants to do that? No one wants to feel robbed after a nice dinner.
Upon entry we asked for antipasti for the table and prosecco. They charged us 90 euro for the wine and 100 for the antipasti. I guess they have to fit in their menu options, but this is in no way reasonable (20 bucks for some tomato and mozzarella).
Main course, the Saltimbocca is actually classic German cuisine with mashed potatoes, gravy and boiled carrots. The meat was paperthin but ok in terms of quality.
They give you a huge wine menu with top dolllar wines, and we had a perfectly ok primitivo for 46, but don’t expect them to offer a passable or even reasonably priced house wine. It’s on you peasant to select wine, no pride or effort from the restaurant to help in that sense. With the primitivo they said “the only difference is price”, and they go from 46 to 155 bucks.
Staff was friendly but in the end predatory. No discussion possible about choises made and associated pricings. Smoking is encouraged in the inner court, which with the tarp feels like inside. To each their own but that’s...
Read moreExtremely professional and friendly staff. They are very accommodating of your dietary needs and will even make you a special off of the menu dish to meet those needs (we had a vegan with us). The staff was attentive; no glass, be it water or wine, was ever less than half empty.
To the food: There is nothing I would not recommend. Every single thing, from the bread to the appetizers to the main dish was a masterpiece. The menu from which the majority of us ordered is one that changes every three days. That being said, if you ever see “lamb tortellini with Aubergines” on the menu, do yourself a favor and order it. I’ve had the privilege of trying many cuisines and high end restaurants around the world. This dish was without a doubt the single greatest spoonful of food I’ve ever eaten.
While it is pricey, it is all worth it. I’d even pay more and not be bothered at...
Read moreVisited a couple of times over the years and I have to say that, apart from it's historical attarction, it is a very ordinary reastaurant. Expensive with a certain amount of arrogance in the service...
First visit we ordered duck which was rather incompetently skated off the carving board and across the floor in front of us! We were than nmade to feel as if it was our fault!!! We had to order a different main course as another duck would take too long so we settled for some rather unappetising dishes that, to be honest, were not something we would have normally chosen. To add a spectacular finale to the meal, the host offered us a complimentary glass of red wine which he poured from a bottle that other guests had left!!!
Second vist the food was very ordinary with a distinct lack of choice on the menu. Won't...
