SUMMARY: They made a mistake that would have caused medical issues for one of our party, denied they were wrong, and then charged us extra. I will definitely not be returning.

SERVICE: They made multiple mistakes with our order (7 people), that I normally would have forgiven. HOWEVER, one of our party has a medical reason for not drinking sugar. They ordered a Coke Zero. When it came after one sip it was obvious to them that it wasn't a Coke Zero but a regular sugar filled coke. We called the waiter over and explained that this was Coke and asked for him to take it away and bring him a Coke Zero. Here's the problem, he said "No, that a Coke Zero." No matter how we insisted that it wasn't a Coke Zero he just looked at his order taking device and insisted that it was a Coke Zero. Finally we got him to take away the Coke and bring a Coke Zero, BUT he insisted we would be charged for both. The replacement drink was definitely Coke Zero. When we paid we discussed with the manager and she insisted we pay for the "extra" drink.

FOOD: Fries were good, schnitzel was ok. Wrap was over sauced.

ATMOSPHERE: Very well located in the munsterplatz. Interesting decorations. Downside (perhaps this is acceptable in Germany and I'm not used to it), but there were two dogs at different tables that would start barking whenever anyone walked by those tables. Which basically meant it was a noisy...

Am vergangenen Samstag (14.12.2024 - ca. 19:20 Uhr), nach einem schönen Besuch auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt in Ulm, haben meine Freundin und ich das Café Extrablatt besucht, um den Abend bei ein paar Getränken ausklingen zu lassen. Leider mussten wir gegen Ende unseres Besuchs eine sehr unangenehme Situation erleben, die ich hier schildern möchte.

Der Vorfall: Nachdem wir gemütlich zwei Bier bestellt und getrunken hatten, wollten wir nach etwa einer Stunde aufbrechen. Ich hatte bereits bezahlt, und bevor wir das Café verlassen wollten, mussten wir beide noch einmal die Toilette aufsuchen.

Zuerst ging ich zur Toilette und kehrte zu unserem Tisch zurück. Während ich auf meine Freundin wartete, die ebenfalls die Toilette aufsuchte, passierte etwas, das mich sehr überraschte: Plötzlich standen vier Damen neben unserem Tisch, und eine von ihnen setzte sich sogar auf den Stuhl, auf dem meine Freundin zuvor saß.

Ich sprach die Damen an, und sie erklärten mir, dass einer der Bedienungen mit weißem Hemd ihnen den Tisch gezeigt hätte, da wir angeblich bezahlt hätten und gehen wollten. Ich vermute jedoch stark, dass der „Go“ von einem anderen Kellner kam – einem Herrn mit Vollbart und kurzen Füßen, der während unseres Aufenthalts nicht sonderlich freundlich wirkte.

Reaktion der Bedienung: Ich finde es eine bodenlose Frechheit, dass wir als Gäste so bedrängt wurden. Meine Freundin war zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht zurück, und wir hatten weder unsere Mäntel von der Garderobe geholt noch waren wir vollständig bereit zu gehen.

Als ich die Bedienung auf die Situation ansprach, reagierte er mit einer abfälligen Aussage: „Ich bin nicht die Polizei, und es ist nicht meine Aufgabe, auf das Verhalten der Gäste zu reagieren.“ Für mich ist das völlig inakzeptabel. Wenn es seine Aufgabe ist, neuen Gästen Tische zuzuweisen, dann sollte er auch dafür sorgen, dass solche unangenehmen Situationen gar nicht erst entstehen.

Fazit: Unser schöner Abend wurde durch diesen Vorfall leider stark getrübt. Ich erwarte von einem Café wie dem Extrablatt, dass Gäste respektvoll behandelt werden und nicht das Gefühl bekommen, hinausgedrängt zu werden, noch bevor sie tatsächlich gegangen sind.

Das Personal sollte besser darauf achten, dass Tische erst dann für neue Gäste freigegeben werden, wenn die vorherigen Gäste das Café wirklich verlassen haben. Ein respektvoller Umgang sollte immer an erster Stelle stehen. Insbesondere der Kellner mit Vollbart und kurzen Füßen sollte sich ein Beispiel an freundlicherem Verhalten nehmen, da ich den Eindruck hatte, dass der „Go“ für den Tischwechsel...
