We were an hour early, but 'outside' the season that is a recommendation for sure. If you want to enjoy the Sunset in the evening in September, be sure to arrive before 18.00.
We took the 'special evening tasting' with a sparkling wine as a starter, which to my personal opinion was also among their best wines.
Served with Olive oil and bread, some olives and in our case some delicious goat cheese, 6 different wines are served.
2 white wines. The first is from the mountains and for my personal pallet, too acidic. The second can be compared to a Chardonnay, but misses the fruitiness and finesse a Chardonnay has. It's just 'oily'
2 wines that were pleasant, one made from red grapes, but without the fermentation of the skin. One a combination of white and red. Both not really my personal taste, but okay.
The red that was served after is a lovely red wine, full of taste with a touch of fruitiness.
The cocktail wine was what all women in the same tasting group a I was, really appreciated! Sweet, smelling of orange, served with ice cubes.
Sarris Winery is absolutely worth the visit, but where they advertise a tour of the winery as a start, they immediately serve the wines and said that 'due to the fermentation process there is too much CO2 in the winery' which of course is bullocks.
Friendly owner. Friendly staff.
Worth the 30 Euro per person for the full 6...
Read moreThe setting is beautiful and leads to a very positive frame of mind. Quite honestly I would rate a glass of water 10/10 while sitting on the terrace in this location. Unfortunately the location is the only good thing this winery has going for it. I attended a private birthday celebration here and I was astounded at their lack of professionalism. The staff were at best disinterested and left their manners at home. The owners were happy to take the booking and advised that they would take care of everything, they told us we could stay untill midnight but no music after 11.30, all good. But on the night at 10.30pm we were confronted with a very aggressive manager who obviously wanted an early night and threatened to turn off the electricity if we didn't turn the music off! On top of all that the toilets were really horrid! The flush sent the waste up through a grid in the centre of the room before very slowly draining away😟 This may be a nice place to visit for an hour or two but don't expect too much and I really wouldn't recommend hiring for a...
Read moreWe visited the Sarris Winery last night and loved every minute of it.. George greeted us warmly with a beautiful sparkling wine to cleanse our palate as we were told.. (please don’t be fooled by my use of words on this review, I am copying what we were told… to be honest I am still not sure I know the difference between Blue Nun and Asti) However, I do know about good service and when I like the taste of something (so all good). The surroundings were beautiful and very peaceful, the resident cat was also very sweet. We tried 6 wines plus a Winegroni (George’s creation). All were very nice (including the red which had only been bottled 2 weeks prior) we were told it may be a bit harsh.. it was actually very nice. We had some beautiful Olives, bread and a cheese sauce (that came out after the 5th drink so less sure what it was but tasted lovely). Photos to follow.. it’s a must to visit and so worth the experience (can’t forget to mention how lovely the toilets were to)…...
