Ancient Stadium of Delphi — Attraction in Delphi Municipality

Perched high above the Temple of Apollo, the Stadium of Delphi is one of the best-preserved ancient stadiums in Greece. Originally built in the 5th century BC and later renovated in stone by the Roman benefactor Herodes Atticus in the 2nd century AD, it could host around 6,500 spectators. The track measures about 177 meters in length, with starting grooves still visible today.

Parte all'aperto del sito archeologico di Delphi. Biglietto unico 20€, si può acquistare ai piedi del museo, a destra subito dopo i bagni gratuiti (e a seguire il bar) ma in quel caso bisogna prima visitare questo sito all'aperto (100metri a destra) e poi il museo. Se si vuole visitare prima il museo, andare oltre la prima biglietteria e salire tutti i gradini del museo di fronte all'edificio, che poi proseguono sulla destra e acquistare il ticket in quella biglietteria: proseguendo a sinistra c'è il museo, e poi visitare l'area all'aperto. In entrambi i casi TENERE il biglietto per accedere alle due aree! Purtroppo non viene consegnato nessun materiale informativo, non accennano nemmeno a una app scaricabile (a quanto pare, vedendo appesi alcuni fogli con QR code....). Ingresso del sito archeologico all'aperto con lavori in corso. Parcheggio gratuito lungo tutta la strada a lato (quello "ufficiale" è forse formato da pochissimi posti auto sulla costa). C'è una fontanella per l'acqua potabile dopo il museo a sinistra. Le due aree del sito sono collegate da un vialetto pedonale all'ombra di alberi. L'area all'aperto segue la Via Sacra, a salire in sterrato o con gradini in pietra man mano sulla collina sotto al sole con pochissimi alberi per l'ombra. Portare acqua, crema solare, cappellino e potrebbe essere utile un ombrellino per chi patisce il sole. Salendo si incontrano i vari punti archeologici come il tempio di Apollo e in cima lo stadio. Ci sono tabelloni descrittivi in alcune lingue ai vari punti (sotto al sole cocente). Come spesso accade in questi sito, mancano nei vari punti immagini di come poteva essere al tempo, un modellino o un riferimento della maestosità della zona. Bella vista nei dintorni, rende l'idea della maestosità dell'ambiente e un briciolo dell'atmosfera che poteva esserci al tempo in questo luogo dell'oracolo, considerato il centro del mondo.
