Going Above and Beyond: Extraordinary Hospitality for Feline and his Friend
I recently had a heartwarming experience with the amazing staff - Irene, Penny, Vicky (I apologize I didn’t grab everyone’s names who helped me) - at Sofitel Hotel. Although, I wasn’t an official guest of the hotel, their exceptional customer service extended even to my feline companion, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
During a trip to the area, unforeseen circumstances left me without a place to stay temporarily. Worried about my beloved cat, who was with me on this journey through adoption, I wandered into Sofitel Hotel. At this point, I was already almost 2 days at the airport due to flight delays/ cancellations and promises that I was going to be leaving early in the AM. Upon explaining my situation to the front desk, I was taken aback by the genuine care and compassion they extended towards both me and my furry friend.
Firstly, they listened attentively to my predicament, offering reassurance and understanding. Their empathy instantly put my troubled mind at ease. Despite not being an official guest, they were more than willing to assist me in finding a comfortable and secure spot for my furry companion at their front lobby until closing. Honestly, this help restored new found energy in me to keep going and not give up until I found my way home. Multiple staff went beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety and comfort of my cat by checking in on me and my cat. Their attention to detail and genuine concern for my animal companion’s well-being truly touched my heart.
I must highlight that it was not just the exceptional care provided for my cat and I, but also the warm and accommodating nature of the team that made this experience extraordinary. The staff went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcome, valued, and supported.
I cannot express my gratitude enough to the wonderful staff at Sofitel Hotel. Their kindness, professionalism, and exceptional customer service truly deserves recognition. Going far and beyond their duties, they restored my faith in humanity and demonstrated genuine warmth and compassion that sets this hotel apart, “worldwide.”
If you’re looking for a place where your needs, and even those of your beloved furry companions are genuinely cared for, I wholeheartedly recommend Sofitel. Their exceptional staff has left an indelible mark on my heart, and I am forever grateful for their extraordinary hospitality.
I also did manage to stay a night at their hotel due to flight delays and cancellations: the room, the customer service, and everything I experienced as a guest was just as exceptional.
Also, if you must know, to bring my adopted cat back to Canada took a week delay. So, the kindness the staff showed me was definitely a breath of fresh air.
Thank you, Sofitel for your unwavering kindness and going the extra mile to help me and my cherished cat. You have not only earned my utmost respect but have gained a loyal advocate. I did not get to see the Acropolis this time around and it’s on my list of things I really want to see, so I will be back to book and experience your wonderful customer service again!

Considerations
While the hotel's location is ideal for airport access, it is approximately a 40-minute drive to Athens' city center, which may be a drawback for those planning to explore the city's attractions extensively. Conclusion Sofitel Athens Airport stands out for its exceptional convenience for air travelers, offering a range of luxury amenities and comfortable accommodations. While it may come at a premium price and has some areas that could benefit from updates, its proximity to the airport and overall quality make it a strong choice for those prioritizing location and comfort during...
Read moreI have stayed here for several years in several rooms because of the location, and I'm going to review this hotel keeping its' "5 stars" rating in mind in my criticism of the hotel. As far as luxury hotels go, if you have money to spend, outside of airport proximity, this hotel wouldn't be first choice. I used to love it but overtime it seems to have become more like a 4 star hotel and competition has sprung around town. While the showers are beautiful, most rooms are relatively small for a 5 star hotel so if you are sharing, expect a tight squeeze. The rooms have a considerable amount of depreciation, from scratches to chipped paint to wear and tear on the wood floors. My recent room had a dated thermostat that has stained overtime. All the food menus except for the new rooftop are stiff and dated with a lot of frozen foods listed. The new rooftop restaurant is gorgeous and drinks are amazing, however a tad overpriced (over 20 EU for one drink). I've stayed in several 5 star hotels and the service here is both friendly and responsive, however not necessarily memorable. My airline lost my luggage and was in need of some toiletries like deodorant and contact solution, but the receptionist wasn't much help. Another year I stayed here the room service attendant gave me hard time when I asked for a second condiment for my meal. The spa didn't seem to offer any sort of manicure service in case you were looking for one. Again, not huge deterrents, but speaking for a 5 star hotel and this price tag you look for service above and beyond. I think some inclusive food options in the stay would also help justify this price tag at the least because currently no meals are included and the food isn't anything spectacular. I think the taxi trip to other parts of Athens is worth finding a place with a more luxurious experience that also has a view if luxury is what you're...
