Listen...this is supposed to be a 5-star hotel, so you expect a certain level of service at its partnered restaurants. I understand that Greek hospitality may be slightly different than Canadian/American, but considering its proximity to the Sofitel hotel, and the prices (€18 for a dry club sandwich and €16 for a, admittedly good, margarita pizza topped with not-so-fresh basil), one just assumes that the food and general service will be the best. For comparison, many restaurants in Athens serve the same thing for under €12, and the portions are bigger, too. Your total bill for two people will usually be under €20-€25, not including alcoholic beverages.
I will say that the dessert was very good.
It also took 15min for a server (not the one assigned to us) to make eye-contact because we wanted more water. We felt ignored by the staff, which sort of dampened...
Read moreAirport hotel restaurant that is not bad at all. We stayed at the Sofitel Athens Hotel during our 12 hour layover and the restaurant is on the first floor It comes expected with the higher than normal price range but the two items we got fed our cravings. We got a margherita pizza and steak with fries.
We were first served bread which was surprisingly cold. We requested warmer bread and gotten freshly baked ones. The pizza was above average using higher quality cheeses than what I am used to at other hotels. The bread/crust is a little thick than I would like but otherwise it was tasty. The steak surprised me those most. It was deliciously cooked medium rare. The fries were good as well. Overall if you are staying at the Sofitel Athens hotel for a short period of time, this restaurant will satisfy your hunger cravings until your...

I did not expect much, being a hotel restaurant with a captive audience 1hr away from the city, I really did not have high hopes. Even that low bar was able to be taken lower by the restaurant.
The service was painfully slow, which I can ignore given the labor shortage and all. What I cannot ignore is the horrible food at a premium price. We had a rice dish, a pasta dish, and a pizza to share. I honestly had better food coming out of a microwave, which coincidentally is what everything tasted like. The pizza was 100% without a doubt frozen and thawed in an oven for a few minutes. The pasta and rice were mush and bland.
Do yourself a favor, you'd have better food eating at...
