Wonderful beach and well worth the small entrance fee of €5 per person (in April, not sure the fee when season starts 1 May). If you compare the fee with the competitor, Astir Beach, then you will understand how good this place is. The reception staff are kind and friendly as are everyone, and there’s a lot of them. Many housekeepers and maintenance workers, bar/ cafe staff etc. All working hard to keep the place clean and tidy, and serving food and drinks. There are many sun beds with umbrellas to choose from, but you must bring your own towel. Trash cans everywhere and emptied regularly. The toilets are immaculately clean. Bar and cafe have limited range but you can always bring your own food and drinks with you, there are no restrictions. Dogs were allowed on the beach in April, not sure if that’s the same from May onwards. Water is clean and shallow for quite a distance, child friendly and safe. There are lifeguards there too. You can sit under a tree if you prefer or there are shaded picnic areas, some with tables and chairs. The sand is soft, few stones, and clean. Smoking is allowed. Prices in the bar and cafe are reasonable. Many tourists and local people, very friendly environment. Seems there is a water sports place on the left. The grass area is lovely with many people sitting or laying there, or playing ball games. There are tennis courts, basketball courts, paddle board courts, a children’s playground. If you need there are changing rooms and outdoor showers. Large car park for those who arrive by car or motorcycle. From Athens there is the metro and bus, 1hr in total from the centre. The busses depart every 15mins approximately depending on the day. Probably the best and most popular beach near Athens. After 10am the place starts to fill up and by 12noon there are only few...
Read moreThe beach itself is beautiful, a mix of sand and pebble stines, the area cleaned up, water and snacks for a fair price sold, the connection from Athens center good takes only 1h10m, BUT:
we were charged 15 euro per person on sunday (weekdays only 10 Euro/person) for only entry without beds, without umbrella...that is a rip off and not fair...they purposely oversell entry tickets and dont care about visitors. Why not charge a low fee for entry and umbrellas as extra? This is how we know it from Sicily... staff speaks not a single word English and is even proud of it. We arrived at 1.30pm and a sign was saying "no more umbrellas available" - so I wanted as a first time visitor know if there is a reservation system or we can grab one when people leave it. First there was a lady whoch ran away upon hearing English and called a male colleague. I was expecting now somebody who could answer my question but he just looked at me with a desinterested face and shouted "WHAT?" At me. At this point I gave up and just bought two tickets as gamble because we didnt bring our own umbrella many young people blasted aggressive hip-hop music with their speakers and the staff did not care at all to ask them to stop it which was a disturbance for everyone around
At the end of the day, if you come first in the morning and grab an umbrella+beds before it gets crowded the beach is totally OK but if you come too late you are going to overpay for just an entry - better go to a public beach...
Read moreRacist!! I had an incident at this beach. Apparently there are multiple entrance and exit to the beach. We took main entrance to get and found a sun bed and place to settle. The place was nice canteen people were friendly and prices are not bad as well however we thought there is a restaurant inside and in an attempt to find it we stumbled upon a person on a different point of entrance and exit and all I wanted to ask him was where is the restaurant if there is any and he started asking about how did we got in and to show the ticket. There is no problem for me to show the ticket however We had the ticket with our rest of stuff at our sun beds which was 10min walking from that place. He was just not ready to trust us and my partner had to walk 10min there and back to show this guy the tickets and to my shock he stopped only me while everyone one else was coming and going through (many of them without tickets) I don’t want to reach to any conclusion but I think I was stopped for being from a different race while he overlooked everyone else. To my whole time in greece I did not face any racist situations in general people are welcoming and nice, except this one and it is a pity that this place is nice but has lower reviews because of...
