Soaking Wet and Disappointing Experience at BlueFish Vouliagmeni
This dining experience left us not only disappointed but also cold and uncomfortable in our wet clothes. BlueFish Vouliagmeni's poor management of a known problem (wakes from the sea water soaking their guests) and the lack of a sincere apology made this visit extremely regrettable. I would strongly advise against dining here until they address this issue and ensure the safety and comfort of their patrons.
Our initial impression of BlueFish was positive; however, the experience quickly took a turn for the worse when boats created massive wakes, causing a tsunami-like surge that engulfed our table not once, but twice. Why put tables THIS CLOSE TO THE WATERS EDGE when you know there is a risk of dousing your customers with seawater? The first wave left us soaked to our ankles in brackish seawater (ruined shoes), and the second wave drenched us from chest down, including our undergarments and clothing, wallet, iPhone and handbag. The table next to us suffered a similar fate but from head to toe.
It was evident that this was not the first time such an incident had occurred, and we were baffled that the restaurant continued to seat guests so close to the seawater knowing this happens. To make matters worse, the manager, Demetri, was unapologetic and repeatedly asserted that it wasn't his fault that we were soaked. Really? YOU put tables there knowing this happens! He offered to remake our dinner, but given the circumstances that we were soaking wet and cold, we declined to have them remake a dinner that took a lengthy time to prepare (whole grilled fish 3 ways) and requested our bill. He also offered to have us back another night but we were just visiting and departing the next afternoon.
Despite the inconvenience and discomfort caused by the unexpected soaking, the restaurant's management offered a 20% discount on our bill, which we found insufficient considering the ordeal we had just endured. It was disappointing to see that BlueFish Vouliagmeni was well aware of this recurring issue but had taken no measures...
Read moreWe ordered the lobster kritharoto which arrived with great delay and on top of that it was plain cold. The lobster was not tasty, far from fresh, and overall the dish was apparently waiting for quite some time to be served - apparently all the time we were waiting. We informed one of the waiters on the issue and he told us he would inform our waiter who in his turn arrived only when we asked for the check - without mentioning anything about the issue with our food. He didn’t even ask us how our dinner was, compared to the table next to us to whom he was asking for feedback on the fish they ordered. We told him our main dish was plain cold and he told us that it could be because our table was far away from the kitchen :/ which we found quite absurd as we had three more tables behind us, plus this is not an excuse for an overpriced restaurant. He asked whether we’d like to get treated with a dessert to make amends for the inconvenience. However while waiting for the check, we heard everyone was asked whether they wanted to be treated with a dessert after paying, so not sure that was an exception because of our disappointment. Nevertheless we didn’t want any dessert or favors but to enjoy our dinner - which we didn’t. The waiter also told us that next time we visit we could mention his name and get treated with a warm dish, which was kind of him, but I don’t think we will visit again as all dishes we ordered were quite moderate compared to the price and the service quite slow - despite the fact that the restaurant was not even super full. The atmosphere is nice next to the sea but there were moments where there was a weird smell coming from the water. The bread could have been of better quality and served warm. Maybe it was a bad day for them and us but I would recommend other options in the southern suburbs for...
Read moreAlthough the name of the restaurant is blue fish the only fish you can eat there is salmon. My friend wanted to order one of the ciders they have but they weren’t selling them no more. I went for smoothie with strawberries, banana, milk and tahini. 7€ and it was absolutely tasteless, I gave up after drinking half of it. My friend ordered a glass of rose, we started wondering if they are picking it he grapes it took so long. After asking the other waiter we finally got it. The place is quite big but on Tuesday afternoon there were maybe 7-8 tables busy. After 50 minutes we finally got our main. My mushroom risotto was distasteful. Mushrooms were chewy basically impossible to chew, butter was everywhere making the dish tasteless and heavy. I called the waiter to complain then he went to another table where other customers (or his friends) were sitting, said something and they all turned around and stared at us. Another waiter came and asked if I want the same dish or something else from the menu. My friend has buddha bowl with shrimps and was really disappointed. 17€ for 3 cold shrimps from some can, a little bit of mango sauce. I had a bowl with yogurt instead. It was decent but yogurt was greek type one so very thick. I haven’t heard any apologies or any nice little gesture from them to make it up. I still had to pay but just with a price difference. The view is nice but it’s not...
