Tucked away, but still in Central Reykjavík, easily accessible following Google directions. This is a bit of a gem with both free and paid access. With the Reykjavík City Pass you get entry included along with many other museums and local swimming pools - well worth the money. The museum has a great collection of images capturing the history of Reykjavík and Iceland along with specific themed exhibitions. The area around has many cafe and restaurant opportunities to explore after your visit.

Small exhibition but was interesting to view how much Reykjavik had changed over the years. Most of the photos in the exhibition are from the 1950s and 1960s, but there are additional collections in the seated area opposite the reception desk. The photography museum is based on the 6th floor of the Reykjavik library, next to the art museum. There is a folder at the reception desk that gives a description of each photo (in English).

This is a small, yet cosy gallery. I really enjoyed my time here. I believe I was the only patron during my visit. That's Iceland for you, but I think it really enhanced the experience. I was served by a lovely staff member who was very excited to show me the new Christmas postcards! I also got a very quick Icelandic lesson - gleðileg jól is pronounced with fewer syllables than you think! I hope to visit again.

A must-go for anyone who's interested in photography. I was so lucky to discover the work of Olaf Otto Becker there, which has become one of my favorite artists since. For the quality of the work shown here, the facility was a little underwhelming. I've seen smaller spaces that had a greater impact just by their better (though minimalist and inexpensive) interior design.

Photos of days gone by, mostly from 1960s and 70s, portraits, family outings. I would have liked more background explanations as the photos are just displayed with the photographers name under. They are nearly all in bright colour and technically very good though.

Cool library. Came in for a special photo exhibition which wasn't very good, however the permanent photos they have hanging around the staircase were fantastic. Take the lift up to the sixth floor and walk down to see them all. There are toilets and free wifi.
