It’s essentially virtual reality, on a large scale. In every sense, this is something that has to be experienced to be understood. It’s a “ride” that makes you feel as if you are flying over Iceland’s most beautiful landscapes, captured at the most optimal times and on the most optimal days of the year so that they are at their most beautiful. Many are inaccessible except by flight. And some not even then, for the average local or tourist so that some scenery you would never be able to see, except via the Flyover Iceland experience. It’s so good, that what kept it in business during the pandemic of 2020 and 2021, is locals. Actual Icelandic people who went multiple times so they could appreciate the beauty of their own country that they otherwise would never see except via the Flyover experience. Make sure you have a drink made by Tony in the cafe either before or after your Flyover experience. He made me the most incredible version of the “Irish coffee” but with an Icelandic twist. And the café is a really nice place to just rest for a while before or after your movie experience. The only word of caution I will add is that IF you do have any kind of motion sickness, this could have an adverse affect on you. But I have severe motion sickness and taking Dramamine before, was enough for me that it was fine. And I enjoyed my Flyover experience very much! Also the gift shop is a good place to search for Made in Iceland gifts to take home for friends and family. I’m not normally a “touristy experience” kind of traveler. But this would be the exception to that...

2024-March. There were lots of parking spaces. The facility was very clean. There were lots of stalls in the women's restroom.

We have 2 reservations for a total party of 7 on a Sunday late afternoon.

The staff was nice.

You go up the escalator, where you take a green screen picture.

Then you wait for a few minutes for the doors to open into a room that will play a little introduction to Iceland's history.

After that, you go to a round room, with 2 screens - 1 hanging over a round huge screen parallel to the floor.

Now, it's time for the FlyOver Iceland ride. This is like an iMax but with moving seats.

The group is divided into 4 groups, 8 people per group. Groups 1 & 2 were guided through the upper seats, and groups 3 & 4 to the lower seats.

There was a little netted compartment under the seats to store your stuff. Photography or videography inside the rooms and the ride is not allowed

The show itself was really good. The screen is nice and clear. Iceland is naturally gorgeous! FlyOver Iceland is breathtaking! It didn't have a volcano shot though..

The photos from the green screen were about USD 25 for 4 printed photos and all 16 digital photos.

The website shows a phone number for the FlyOver in Chicago.

If you're in Iceland, try this. Please give this review a thumbs up if it helped you...

Really liked this experience! We did the Fly Over Holland on another holiday and liked it so much we wanted to experience this one. It gave a great up close and personal view of all the different landscapes which makes up Iceland. The location is easy to get to. We were on a cruise and caught the free shuttle bus from the pier to the Harpa Concert Hall (about 15 minutes). From there you can walk to Fly over Iceland. It's in a bit of an industrial area but it's a nice flat walk around the port. The Lava Show and the Northern Lights experiences were nearby. Lava Show was quite interesting... Northern Lights was OK. We pre booked Fly Over Iceland and Lava Show online because we wanted to make sure we could get set times and because they can get busy. A number of operators offer these activities. In the past I have been hesitant to do online booking for tours or experiences. However I was very satisfied with my experiences on this holiday. I used sites like Get your Guide and Viator. We found using local tour companies much more reasonably priced than the shore excursions available on the ship. (All local companies were very aware of time restrictions, so no issues being on time for All Aboard!) Anyway, we found the above experiences a fun way to fill part of our day...

Beautiful, smooth, immersive, fun, and well-organized. The 'ride' motion and video worked well - not nausea-enducing in the slightest (as similar rides can be). Strong recommend.
