I pulled out my water bottle because I thought the Uber cab, which was travelling fast, would halt at the Hyderabad Gachibowli traffic junction. I was travelling to Hitex Exhibition Centre.
To my astonishment, the cab driver took me over the newly built overpass that was just made accessible to the public.
I recalled reading about it in the newspaper. I saw what I read: "K.T. Rama Rao, a state minister for Telangana, dedicated the $466 million Shilpa Layout flyover in Gachibowli last week. It was constructed as part of the Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP). The second-longest four-lane birectional flyover in the city, measuring 2.81 kilometres, connects Shilpa Layout (near IKEA super store) to ORR near Gachibowli junction."
I also learned from the media "The existing Gachibowli flyover will be crossed by certain spans of the Shilpa Layout flyover, which are said to be an engineering marvel because they are 18 metres above the earth. One of the largest spans of any flyover in the city may be found on the one connecting Shilpa Layout to the ORR close to Gachibowli Junction."
Now I have had the opportunity to ride on this recently constructed flyover for less than ten minutes, which has relieved 50% of the traffic at this intersection.
I have to congratulate the Telangana government on adding this infrastructure amenity to relieve traffic congestion at Gachibowli Junction, one of the busiest intersections...
