AIG Hospital in Hyderabad stands out as a premier healthcare facility, particularly known for its expertise in gastroenterology. This reputation extends to being one of the top gastroenterology centers not just in India but in Asia. The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, offering advanced medical technology and facilities that meet international standards. Beyond gastroenterology, AIG Hospital has established itself as a leader in various specialties including cardiology, neurology, oncology, and more. Patients often highlight the hospital’s commitment to providing world-class medical care, supported by a team of highly experienced and respected doctors

One of the hospital’s key strengths is its well-maintained and hygienic environment. Patients appreciate the cleanliness and the overall ambiance, which contributes positively to their experience. This focus on maintaining high standards of hygiene and facility upkeep is one of the reasons why many choose AIG Hospital for their medical needs

Despite these strong points, there are several areas where AIG Hospital could improve to ensure a more seamless patient experience. A significant concern among patients is the delay in receiving diagnostic results, particularly for blood tests. Timely access to test results is crucial for effective treatment, and delays in this area can lead to stress and potential health risks for patients who need prompt care. This issue has been reported multiple times, indicating a need for better efficiency in the hospital’s diagnostic services

Another issue that has surfaced is the inconsistency in medication instructions provided by the pharmacy staff. There have been instances where patients received conflicting advice from the pharmacy, which differed from the doctor’s instructions. For example, patients were sometimes told to take medication on an empty stomach when the doctor had advised taking it before meals. Such inconsistencies can lead to confusion and, more critically, could impact patient safety if the medication is not taken as prescribed. This points to a need for improved communication and training within the pharmacy department to ensure that patients receive accurate and consistent information

Furthermore, while the hospital operates 24/7, there have been complaints about the availability of support services during night hours. Patients have reported difficulties in accessing help desk support after 8 PM, which is particularly concerning in a facility that prides itself on round-the-clock care. This gap in service can be especially problematic during emergencies or when immediate assistance is required, highlighting a critical area for improvement in the hospital’s administrative support

The complexity of administrative processes, including billing and appointment scheduling, also contributes to patient frustration. Long wait times, particularly for elderly patients, and cumbersome procedures are common complaints. These administrative challenges can detract from the overall quality of care and add unnecessary stress to the patient experience. Additionally, language barriers can further complicate these processes, especially for patients who do not speak the primary languages used by the hospital staff. This can lead to misunderstandings and communication issues, further impacting patient satisfaction

In summary, while AIG Hospital excels in delivering high-quality medical care with world-class facilities and expert doctors, there are several operational challenges that need to be addressed. By improving the efficiency of diagnostic services, ensuring consistent communication from the pharmacy, and enhancing the availability of support services, AIG Hospital can provide a more holistic and positive patient experience. These improvements are crucial for maintaining and enhancing the hospital’s reputation as a leading healthcare provider, both in India and...

Patient Name: Md. Anwar Islam Age: 80 years UHID: AIGG.21000558

I visited AIG Hospital from June 11 to June 18, 2025, for gastro-related concerns. My overall experience was mixed, and I’d like to share my observations.

Arrival and Initial Experience My first day was disappointing. Mr. Ashik from Chittagong, Bangladesh, arranged my visit, including the invitation letter, appointments, and visa support. I requested Priority/Premium services due to my age, but these were only partially arranged.

I arrived at the International Desk at 8:45 AM as instructed, expecting assistance from Ms. Ching or Ms. Paramita. Unfortunately, I was told they wouldn’t be available until after 10:00 AM. To avoid delays, I registered myself and was directed to the Gastro Cluster for evaluation before meeting Dr. N. Reddy.

The Gastro Cluster was overcrowded and chaotic, with many patients standing due to a lack of seating. This raised concerns about crowd control and management. Ms. Ching was eventually available, and the process began. I sensed a communication gap between Mr. Ashik and the hospital team.

Appreciation for Support Staff Despite the rough start, I appreciate the help from several staff members. Dr. Noveda (apologies if misspelled) helped me meet Dr. N. Reddy. At the Endoscopy department, seeing the crowd worried me, but Ms. Madhuporna quickly moved me to the VIP area. My thanks to her, as well as to Ms. Sumona who initially assisted me. Mr. Ali was also very supportive during my follow-up visits.

Doctors I had the privilege of consulting Dr. N. Reddy, a renowned gastroenterologist. I’m completely satisfied with his treatment and demeanor. I also saw Dr. Afsan Jabeen (Neuromedicine), who was kind and attentive, and Dr. Arvind Reddy (Urology), who provided a positive consultation experience.

Waiting Time Issues Long wait times were a major issue across departments. I had to wait six hours at the MRI center and returned to my hotel at midnight. Another patient shared that they waited 20 hours for an endoscopy while fasting since 10 PM the previous night.

In some areas, patient order was not followed properly, with some files prioritized unfairly. I faced this in Dr. Reddy’s department and when I raised the issue, the staff responded rudely. This needs urgent improvement. Bill Gates once said, “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.” AIG should reflect on this.

The hospital appears understaffed and lacks adequate space. Hospitals in Singapore and Bangkok use token machines to streamline queues—AIG could benefit from a similar system.

Documentation System All reports and prescriptions are compiled into one bulky file, making it hard to locate specific documents during follow-ups. A digital system linked to patient ID numbers could resolve this issue, as seen in hospitals abroad.

Canteen Food Options Despite being a gastro-focused hospital, both hospital canteens offer mostly oily and spicy foods, unsuitable for many patients. I couldn’t find healthier alternatives. As an international hospital, AIG should provide more dietary-appropriate options.

Final Thoughts Though this review contains several criticisms, they are based on my personal experience and intended as constructive feedback. Despite the issues, I would still recommend AIG Hospital for its strong medical expertise, especially in gastroenterology.

Thank you for taking the time to read my experience.

Md. Anwar...

Visiting AIG Hospital, Gachibowli, was one of the worst healthcare experiences I’ve ever had. At first glance, the hospital looks grand—almost like an airport or a five-star hotel from the outside. But once you step in, the reality is completely different and extremely disappointing.

Basic Hygiene Neglected: The inside facilities are shameful for such a big name. You will hardly find tissues in the washrooms. When I asked for one, the staff bluntly said, “We don’t provide tissue.” I was recovering from a fistula, where hygiene is critical, and not providing tissues is absolutely unacceptable.

Endless Queues and Mismanagement: After registration, the entire experience was about standing in queues after queues. It feels more like an office than a hospital. If you go at 9 AM, be prepared to return around 8 PM. There’s no coordination—one doctor sees you in the morning, and another completely new one in the evening.

Lack of Senior Doctors and Proper Attention: Despite being a “premium” hospital, I never met a senior doctor. All discussions were with juniors who seemed inexperienced and unconfident. They suggested surgery decisions without proper explanation or assurance. Talking to them gave the feeling that they were still in training.

Unnecessary Tests and Delays: Every doctor you meet will prescribe at least one test, almost as if it’s mandatory for them. Completing all the tests takes more than a week because of long queues. For instance, even a simple colonoscopy takes over 24 hours to get done. The system clearly prioritizes numbers over patient care.

Poor Diagnostic Accuracy: Their radiology department is completely unreliable. The MRI fistulogram report mentioned only one 5 cm tract, but after my surgery at another hospital, doctors found four tracts, the longest measuring 10 inches. This shows how poorly trained and careless their team is.

Extremely High Costs: Their test and surgery charges are exorbitant. While most hospitals charge around ₹7,500 for an MRI fistulogram, AIG charges ₹9,900. Even for a simple pus drainage procedure, they gave me an estimate of ₹1,50,000—which is shocking.

Poor Quality and Pressure-Driven Staff: The hospital is filled with young, inexperienced staff who work under pressure to complete a quota of patients and tests. Accuracy, patient comfort, and care seem to be of no importance to them.

Feedback from Other Patients: I personally spoke with many patients during my stay, and almost all of them shared negative feedback. Everyone complained about high costs, poor management, and unsatisfactory treatment.

AIG Hospital might look luxurious from the outside, but inside, it’s a complete disappointment. From hygiene to doctor expertise, from management to ethics, everything fails miserably. It’s nothing but a money-driven setup with little regard for patient welfare.

My sincere advice: Please avoid AIG Hospital, Gachibowli. It’s only a waste of money,...

First thing don't give your smartphone to the staff with blue colour suit who called as co ordinators with money minded management. They will take your phone and rate their hospital as good in all sites. For the patients who ever visiting hospital for first time choose any doctor from website and take appointment through toll-free number it will be good for you. At the registration desk you have to register with your original aadhar card and you have to choose a doctor. Despite producing my original aadhar card they entered my name wrongly. I have made somany requests to correct my name but no use. They simply told it can't be changed. These days you can change/correct your name passport but not in this hospital don't know why. I have mailed the same to AIG, wrote a reguest letter and even dropped in suggestion Box but no use. Due to which I might not get medical reimbursement. For first time visitors remember it might take 2-5 days to undergo all types of tests given. I have been to this hospital for stomach pain problem.Took my all previous reports and explained my issues to Doctor. Doctor suggested me for colonoscopy and mr ENTEROGRAPHY some more blood tests which are mandatory for all patients. On first day I gave blood samples at lab after taking appointment for the same. Yes you should take appointment for blood tests also. On same day i asked for colonoscopy appointment they gave my appointment for 3rd day and gave preperation medicine for colonoscopy. On 3rd day went to hospital as early as 7:30 am my token number was 20. After 1hr they took me to preperation room from there it took 2 hrs for completion of colonoscopy. On same day we went to take appointment for MR ENTEROGRAPHY then they gave next day appointment. My time was 11:40AM. I reached lab at 11AM and they took me inside for preparation at 1:30 pm in between somany patients who are well known to staff are went for test without appointment. At 3PM my test was started and completed by 4:30. They told me t collect report after 24hrs yes 24hrs. On 5th day at 4PM we took reports and went to meet doctor. Here again we were asked to take appointment. So after appointment at 5PM we allowed to talk to doctor at 6PM. All these are organised by so called co ordinators who completed MBA with full of business minded. No one except doctors show concern on you. A good hospital with bad maintenance. Remember it might cost you around 30-50k for all types of tests. It costed me 35k for all tests. There should have -ve ratings for management
