Read moreReview highlights: FLIES on salads Decent non veg starters Passable veg startes Good service Great ambiance
After searching for quite some time for a new buffet in this price range, we decided to visit The Globe Grub, thanks to the rave reviews. Was here for a Saturday lunch and made a reservation thinking it would be packed. Surprisingly, not even a quarter of the restaurant was occupied. Ambiance is good - Bright, spacious and comfortable seating.
Service was quick. Starters came to our table in no time. The non veg starters were quite good with the highlight being the tangdi kebab. Steamed fish in mustard sauce wrapped in banana leaf was slimy and lacked any texture. Prawns in basil sauce, mutton sheek kebab and chicken drumsticks were decent. For the vegetarians, nothing really shined. Everything but the crispy corn was just about passable. While their menu promised a tandoori broccoli, we were told that it had been replaced by hara bhara kebab (which was pathetic too) owing to bad quality of broccoli.
We were served pizza slices on our table and they were pretty good. Good amounts of toppings and cheese. The live pasta counter was also impressive.
The dimsum station was a fail because the dumplings were over steamed and their skin almost disintegrated. Upon request, we were given 6 brand new uncooked dumpling (may be because we said the earlier ones are overcooked).
Things slowly started to slide South from now. We took a walk to the mains and voila! FLIES on the salad! Most of the mains were dry and mostly empty. Soiled plates were left near the mains stations which made the experience very unpleasant.
The biryani was super dry and we requested the chef to give us a fresh bowl, which he did. It was moist and flavorful. Dal makhani was great. Butter chicken was slightly sweet but well executed.
By now, we'd given up hope for dessert and we were not wrong in doing so. Same as the mains, most were empty and not one stood out.
Verdict: At 900 rupees, there are far better buffets in the area (sahibs...
