#GastroHogger #LetsHog #NewbieAlert #ArabianCorner When it comes to Arabian or rather mostly Mediterranean cuisine, ur Hyderabad minds and palates cannot scan beyond mandi and maybe hummus and that's about it. Though we have quite a few options in this city to explore it our knowledge and exposure still I feel is very novice. Good to see the city is embracing such less but more delicious cuisines and effort is made by the restauranters to bring in food and experience as close as possible to be authentic. Arabian Corner is the newbie opened in gachibowli whose menu specializes in mostly Arabian cuisine and few from Lebanese with good amount of options. Before if you are veg, well you ain't going to have many options here.
With Chef brought from Yemen and the owner himself has in-depth knowledge of the cuisine, the menu speaks authentic dishes all across from the uber-popular hummus to cream and cheese Eggy Lahsa. From the #Aqdah Dijjaj to #Falam BBQ Charcoal grill. Each dish from its presentation to the look and the flavors are completely new and fresh to our local tuned palates and that turns out to be ht USP. Familiar meat in unusual spices and flavors does play well mainly in dishes like Laham Saluna (Arabian lamb stew) to Fasulia Hamra (red bean stew).
With breezy rains, Shai Sulaimani and Arabian Gahwa both provide such soothing effects and they are herbal which makes it even more desirable.
Now to the star dish of their menu, a fully cooked and grilled goat completely stuffed with aromatic rice, spices, and dry fruits and finally presented over a complete bed of Arabian spiced aromatic rice, loads of dry fruits again, eggs, dry lemons and much more. The dish is called "KHAROOF MAHSHI". Note: The dish can be made only on pre-order. So call 'em up 1-2 days before your visit and order it. The pricing goes anywhere around 10-14K depending on the size of the goat and as-of-day price in the market which I guess is worth as it can easily stuff 10 hungry souls easily.
For desserts, Basbousa was OKish but their #Kunafeh was killer. Apt saltiness from the cheese and perfect sweetness make it all the more desirable. With locality friendly pricing and young stuff, I hope they pull it off day in day out and not turn to be an overnight wonder and vanish. With more improved and knowledgeable staff and consistency, they can definitely UP the game in gachibowli as they don't have any competition in this cuisine and they can...
Read moreArabian corner is the newest entrant amongst the middle eastern cuisine options in the city. The place is situated in Gachibowli and has a wonderful ambiance to it. The sitting is both indoor as well as outdoor with an option of rooftop sitting as well.
My experience to this place was quite good. I went over with my pals couple of days and tried out some of their delicacies. I tried out their Fattoush salad, Aqda faham, Faham dajaj and Mix non veg platter.
Starting with their fattoush salad, the portion size was quite good. However, I found the fattoush salad to be a bit more tartary though. Next up, their mix non veg platter was a superb collection of assorted kebabs. My personal favorite had to be their fish and juicy lamb. Another dish which I feel is highly recommended is their Faham dajaj. It was a beautiful dish of grilled chicken which was marinated in Arabian spices and had got a lovely lemony after taste to it. Simply amazing.
Coming to mains, I had their Lamb saluna, Lahsa, Fasulia hamra, Kharoof mahshi mandi accompanied by Rotis. The fasulia hamra was a rich red kidney bean stew which resembled more or less like Rajma masala but with Arabian influence. It had chopped bell peppers, onions and tomatoes as garnishing and was super yummy. Next up, it was time to try out their star dish Kharoof mahshi mandi.
The mandi was prepared using baby spring lamb which was marinated overnight in Arabian spice mix and later on baked. The stuffing of the lamb consisted of chick peas, raisins, mandi rice, spice mix, nuts and pistachios. Overall, the mandi was good. It is a dish of celebration and can be had by a group of people all together.
To end things up, I had their Arabian gahwa along side Basbousa and Kunafa. The gahwa was excellent with a strong hint of cardamom to it. Made with green coffee beans, it was something new for me to try. Amongst Kunafa and Basbousa, I would have to say that their Kunafa was better. The filling of the cheese was adequate and the overall texture of the kunafa was also up to the point.
All in all, I would say that they can work slightly upon their service and a bit of improvement could be done in...
