Read moreBeautiful, artistic gateway in traditional style that leads to a small park. Definitely worth visiting, and I suggest going there in the evening. The Patrika Gate must have featured in the majority of pre-wedding shoots of couples not just from Jaipur city but from other parts of Rajasthan also. You will see many tourists here and many couples in fine dresses and makeup. A nice landmark near the airport, Patrika Gate is a good spot for hanging out. The structure itself is eye candy, and options abound for a relaxing evening! This place has been created to develop tourism. Nothing unique about it other than for pictures. Recommend to go in evening to avoid the sun. Modern yet artistic spot in Jaipur. Good architecture and paintings. Though overcrowded and exploited by pre-wedding photoshoot people for commercial purposes. For a new gate built in 2016 this is an excellent place for stunning photography. The colors on the arches, ceiling, and the carvings are pink hued and make for super photos if you can go early in the morning. Open 24-hrs but lots of beggar children who bother you for money and also get in the way of your photos. They constantly run around and it’s difficult to get a decent shot. Located within walking distance from Jaipur Marriott Hotel, near Jawahar Circle.
I’m glad we stopped off to see the gate, the architecture is fantastic and the colourful designs are stunning.
But that’s why it’s become THE instagram place in Jaipur and we arrive to find the place filled with local and foreign tourists. It was dominated by those with organised photo shoots, video cameras, reflectors, tripods etc and some frankly ludicrous/hilarious and endless posing and strutting that went on.
Realising it was impossible to really see the gate in detail or take photos without hordes of tourists in the shot we just stood back and enjoyed the spectacle of those fussing over the perfect instagram shot.
The gate is pretty small and free to enter. If you are in the area it’s certainly worth stopping at. We arrived into Jaipur mid afternoon and stopped as it was on the route to our hotel - not sure I’d travel the 30 odd mins from the city centre to see it but if you feel the need, go as early as you can to...
