The wall of Amer is huge and magnificent. They are built on the hills of Aravali mountain range. The Amer Fort is situated in the foot of the hills and is surrounded by the walls build on the hilltops. The purpose for constructing these walls was the protect the Fort from enemies. Because back then Amer was a thriving Kingdom...amd not a city like today. It was one of the major kingdoms of Rajasthan. These walls can be seen from much distance apart. I saw these was for the first time when I was just a few kilometres away from entering the Jaipur city. And from the Amer Fort these was closely visible. You can track on these walls. We didn't go there so I don't know if it requires entry tickets. But I am sure it would have been a great experience.

Amber (pronounced Amer) is at a distance of about 11 kilometres from Jaipur. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was the bastion of the Kachwahas of Amber, until the capital was moved to the plains, to what is today Jaipur. The palace, located in craggy hills, is a beautiful melange of Hindu and Mughal styles. The splendour of the palace is enhanced by the breath-taking vista of the Maota Lake in front. The palace is nearly seven centuries old and has a legendary past. Originally a small structure that the Rajputs won from the Meena tribes, it was later transformed into the grand Amber Palace. An amazing unforgettable view from here

The Wall of Amer – A Silent Guardian of History

The Wall of Amer is one of those places that often gets overshadowed by the grandeur of Amber Fort, but if you take a moment to look at it closely, you’ll feel the weight of history standing before you. This ancient wall, stretching for miles around the fort, is a silent witness to centuries of Rajasthan's rich past, and it’s definitely worth a visit.

Walking along the wall, it’s easy to feel like you’re walking in the footsteps of the past. The Amer Fort itself is already a stunning example of Rajput architecture, but this wall, with its rugged, weathered stones and strategic placement along the hills, adds a sense of strength and protection to the entire complex. It was built to safeguard the fort, and as you trace its long stretches, you get a glimpse into the defensive strategies of the time.

What I found fascinating was how well the wall blends into the natural surroundings. The way it seems to rise organically from the rocky landscape — winding through hills, valleys, and dense trees — gives it an almost mystical quality. The fortifications were designed not just for protection but also to keep the place in harmony with its environment.

One of the best ways to appreciate the Wall of Amer is from a higher vantage point, like from Amber Fort or even the nearby Jaigarh Fort, which offers incredible views of the entire structure. The sight of it stretching through the landscape, a bold yet beautiful boundary, feels timeless.

If you enjoy history and love wandering off the beaten path, the Wall of Amer is a must-see. It’s a part of Rajasthan’s royal past that often goes unnoticed, but it’s an important piece of the puzzle that tells the story of the fort and the people who...

The Amer Fort, also known as the Amber Fort, is a renowned fortification located in Amer, a town near Jaipur in Rajasthan, India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the top attractions in the region. The Amer Fort showcases the architectural brilliance and grandeur of Rajputana design.

The fort's impressive structure is a combination of Hindu and Mughal architectural styles, featuring intricate carvings, delicate marble work, and stunning mirror mosaics. The fort is situated on a hilltop, providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Visitors can explore the various sections of the fort, including the Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), and the enchanting gardens. There are also opportunities to enjoy elephant rides and witness traditional cultural performances...
