This Ashram was established in 1925. Rashtrakavi Kuvempu had stayed in this place.
The moment one steps into this place one can feel the difference. You can feel that compared to busy traffic outside this place is filled with serenity. The garden, trees and ponds inside are phenomenal and very well maintained.
The book store houses numerous Kannada and English books. For children there are several picture books about the life of Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Ramayana and Mahabharata etc. The prices are very reasonable. It also publishes Kannada monthly magazine called VivekaPrabha.
The shrine inside gives immediate peace of mind. Nice place to meditate. If you get time can take part in evening prayers. On special occasions like festivals etc. it organizes special prayers and special Prasadam.
The Ashram also organises regular talks, the details of which will be in the website. Evening Arati and festivals are also live steamed in the YouTube channel.
Overall it is truly a great place to spend time to uplift oneself and to get peace of mind.

Read moreSri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru was established on 11th June 1925 by Swami Siddheswarananda an initiated disciple of Swami Brahmananda. In 1932 the Maharaja of Mysore made a grant which enabled construction of a small building and for holding a Vedanta study circle for Swamis. Many reputed scholars took classes for Monks and Brahmacharis who came from various centres of the Ramakrishna Order. All our stalwart monks were studying in this Mysore study circle. The Mysore study circle was in a way the nucleus of the now well established Training Centre for the monastic probationers in Belur Math. The literary colossus of Karnataka, K.V Puttappa (Kuvempu) had his initial training in Mysore Ashrama during his student days, and he had his spiritual initiation from Swami Shivananda, a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna.
