Lord Venkataramana Swamy (lovingly called Balaji, Govinda by devotees). Very famous temple in Mysore on KRS Road (also called chikka Tirupati) draws huge crowds of devotees. The little smile of the lord Srinivasa is enchanting and mesmerizing, that is the reason people stand staring the lord awestruck and at times have to be reminded by the staff to make way for other devotees to have a darshan of the lord. Saturday's and on special days you could find crowds of devotees and arrangements would be made for easy darshan for all. Devotees from nearby as well as far off places take part in the annual car festival of the lord (Vijayadashmi day). After Maha Mangala Harathi, daily two times (afternoon & night) there would be Prasadam distribution. Devotees buy laadu prasadam from counter for distribution among friends & relatives when they head home. Houses temple for goddess Padmavathi, goddess Andal and Lord Sri Krishna. A spacious hall is inside the temple, which is used for pooja on special occasions and for discourses. Adjacent Navagraha temple is also there. Temple has a Kalyana Mantapa (Adjacent) for functions such as marriages, upanayanam, birthday celebrations, etc. A souvenir shop is also there inside the temple, here you get all pooja items, gift items, photos/idols of God's and Goddesses, devotional audio Cd's & tapes...
Read moreI recently visited Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Temple in Vontikoppal, Mysore, and it was a truly enriching experience. The temple is a serene and beautiful place that offers a sense of peace and spirituality. Here they also perform vehicle Puja, whoever wants also can visit and get it done.
As expected, the temple was quite crowded on Saturday, but this only added to the vibrant and devotional atmosphere. The Pooja was performed exceptionally well, with great attention to detail and a strong sense of devotion.
One of the highlights of my visit was the prasadam. It was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, reflecting the care and tradition of the temple.
Despite the crowd, the overall experience was fulfilling and I highly recommend visiting Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Temple for anyone seeking a spiritual retreat or to experience a well-conducted...
Read moreThis is a temple with a 300 year history. The temple complex was built in the 1930s, with a grant from the then Maharaja of Mysore. The temple houses a majestic idol of Lord Shrinivasa and His Consort, Goddess Mahalakshmi in the sanctum sanctorum. There is an idol of Lord Krishna, as a Child, in the first precinct and a shrine dedicated to the Navagrahas or Nine Divine Planets in the outer precincts. The temple has a very good vibe, it feels very good to sit and meditate for a while. There are special Sevas offered on certain days. I definitely liked the Prasada on the day I went with my family. Gave us a sense of humility and devotion. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in Mysore, take in the tranquillity, that would make it worthwhile. You will have to park in the road beside the temple or in the road behind it. And do let me know...
