Vaikom Beach — Attraction in Kerala

Vaikom lake beach is an ideal place for an evening time with family or friends. It is very peaceful to walk along the walkway arranged there. The breeze from the Vaikom lake is very pleasing. There are benches arranged all through the walkway,which is a good thing. Everyone can visit the place irrespective of ages. There is lot of parking available in the nearby ground. There is space available for kids to play also in the ground. You could get Snacks and tea from nearby shops. Kites and different toys are available. There is a children's park nearby. There is no entry fee for the park. Kids could enjoy the park and elders also could relax by the lake side. There is a boat service available which is very cheap. It is a service boat. You could get a round trip and enjoy the lake even more. The Vaikom Mahadeva temple is also at a walkable distance.There are some restaurants also available nearby.The only thing I felt bad is the foul smell from the lake at certain points. Better to visit in evening or early morning. Vaikom beach located near to Vaikom Mahadeva temple. First solar boat, Adithya was introduced to Vaikom boat jetty. Regular boat service available to Thavanakadavu boat jetty, near to Cherthala. So traveller can avoid the journey through Thanneermukkam band road to travel to Cherthala and Alappuzha. Also Vaikom Taluk hospital is just near to boat jetty. Childrens park, Ksrtc and private bus stand, other private hospital, Police station, Ktdc hotel are also in an around. Junkar service is also available from Vaikom boat jetty to Thavanakadavu boat jetty in regular intervals. People in Vaikom are very friendly in approach. They are usually mention directions with East, west, north and south etc instead of 'LEFT' and 'RIGHT'. So outsiders are usually gets confused in navigation. Nice place for evenings. A good promenade for evening walks, however need to maintain properly. Currently it open ended with no fencing for the lame shore at one end. The open area beside the promenade is totally abandoned, which must be maintained well to use as a playground. I remember people used to play cricket and football pre covid times. Adding more sitting places would be ideal for families to spent evenings there. Some decent F&B outlets would be a sure go, currently the KTDC motel araam is there however families wont prefer it since its famous as beer parlour.
