An average hotel. The Indian Coffee House is a chain of restaurants that functions more or less like a corporative society in terms of management. The experience is not uniform in all their hotels and this varies greatly depending on the location. I tried the masala dosa, vegetable cutlet, meat cutlet, porotta, chicken roast, beef roast, fresh lime and beef omelette on various occasions. I've found the masala dosa, cutlet and fresh lime to consistently good. Quality of rest of the dishes varied greatly.
There is very limited parking in front of the shop. If you are coming by car you might have to find somewhere else to park. The space in front the post office might be available.
The service is Okish. The waiters are mostly busy, but willl cater to everyone as effecient as they can. There is no A/C room. There is a room for people coming with family and ladies. The place is very old. They accept payments via card. There will be some interesting sweets always at the bill counter. Their coffee is also good. It is overall an affordable option if you are visiting the vaikom area. The chicken roast and beef roast we tried were full of onions. The beef omelette was a variety. It had bits of beef here and there in the omelette.
My recommendation would be the cutlet and fresh lime. If you are a fan of masala dosa with beetroot go for that too. Bon...

Indian Coffee House offers a range of dishes with mixed quality, from an enjoyable cold coffee to a disappointing chicken cutlet. The atmosphere is decent, but poor customer service detracts from the experience.
Positives: The cold coffee stands out for its quality, making it a recommended choice. Ghee masala dosa is above average, providing a satisfying option for dosa lovers.
Negatives: Inconsistent food quality, with items like the chicken cutlet and normal coffee lacking in flavor. Customer service issues: The waiter refused to take the full order at once, insisting he would return for the drinks order later, even though we requested the drinks to come first. Additionally, we waited over 13 minutes to get the bill after asking for it.
Feedback for the Restaurant: Indian Coffee House could enhance its appeal by focusing on improving customer service to match the classic touch it was once known for. Addressing delays and ensuring staff accommodate guest requests would significantly improve the dining experience.
Advice for Future Customers: If you’re visiting, try the cold coffee and dosa, but be prepared for slower service and a less attentive...
Read moreMy lunch at the ICH in Vaikom was a bit of a letdown. I ordered a Chicken Biryani, which was unfortunately mediocre.
The long-grain rice, while cooked adequately, was surprisingly bland and lacked the aromatic spices that I expected from a good biryani. The pieces of chicken were a major disappointment. They were heavily fried, which made them excessively oily. The meat itself tasted stale. It really brought down the entire meal.
On the positive side, the side dishes were decent. The complementary salads and pickle were fresh and provided a much-needed contrast to the oily biryani.
Overall, the meal was a fair one. While the classic ambiance of the ICH is always a pleasant experience, the food, especially the biryani, didn't live up to my...
