We wanted to visit the area after a 24 hours on a boat for the 4 of us (family holidays) . We wanted to know more details about the village. At first we had difficulties to be understood because we wanted a guide for a walk in the village but we were offered instead a tour on a boat. And actually it was great, completing perfectly well the tour with a bigger boat on bigger rivers. We could understand that you cannot separate land from water - that is the basic definition of this area! We could see the houses along the small rivers and canals and a few activities like mat making, coconut rope, palm wine collecting. And see a lot of birds which our guide was eager to point at for us. Very interesting - and quiet . Perfect after the bigger boat cruise - and then heading to a toddy shop /restaurant! Go for it,...
Read moreMy 1st visit in Kerela, and I was arranged with the village life experience tourism where we got to see how kerela utilizes every aspects of the nature given to them. From making handmade ropes to making of handmade rooftops & mats almost everything including culture & peoples love towards nature in the specific village was clearly felt in this tourism. An amazing initiative to explore & learn about Kerela better as well as the people whom we met during the tour were very kind & friendly.
