We chose Taj Kumarakom to unwind and escape from our fast-paced life. True to their website description, this resort beautifully integrates with the local wildlife—indeed, we saw more birds and wildlife here than at the nearby bird sanctuary!

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with refreshing coconut water and charming coconut garlands. Gayathri Devi ensured a seamless check-in, escorted us to our room, and introduced us to the delightful "Chaykada" for evening tea. Throughout our stay, Gayathri Devi, Aashara, Aravind, and Abdul were always there to assist, suggesting local activities and promptly attending to our requests.

The team has put enormous effort into maintaining the originality of the historic Baker’s Bungalow; even the switches and fans reminded me fondly of my village home.

Our room was super spacious and centrally located, providing easy access to the front of the resort—where the front office, restaurant, and activities area are situated—as well as to the back, featuring the tranquil backwaters and Chaykada, the evening tea area. We later discovered that the late Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, had stayed in the same room during his visit to Kumarakom for medical treatment.

Each morning began peacefully with the melodies of birds. Our days effortlessly flowed from swimming to a delicious breakfast, followed by badminton or cycling, rest, gym sessions, another swim, and dinner. We genuinely can't believe how quickly our week passed!

Sachin from the activities team was easily approachable and always helpful with our activity needs.

The housekeeping team, especially Sujina, was extremely attentive, regularly checking to ensure we had everything we needed. Other housekeeping team members were helpful with additional requests, such as cleaning the badminton court. Senthil Sir was always available for any queries and was particularly prompt, often the first to respond whenever we required assistance.

The wellness team, led expertly by Dr. Akshara, was exceptional. Puwi's care was wonderful. Vishnu, responsible for the swimming pool, managed it diligently, keeping it clean despite frequent rainfall causing leaves and insects to fall. He was always ready to help guests with swimming tips when asked.

The restaurant team, headed by Subin and Vipin, offered superb service and excellent dining suggestions. Special thanks to Alan AJ, James, Theja, Aakshana, and Niranj among many others whose names we might have missed—they were all incredibly kind and helpful. Entertainment during Dinner was wonderful.

While we enjoyed cycling or walking around the resort, we greatly appreciated the buggy service, which was always promptly available. Thanks to Vijayan and Biju for always being helpful.

Noble’s drawings were inspiring and made for engaging conversations; kindly shared his colour pencils with us, enabling us to create a 'Thank You' card for the team.

It was truly difficult for us to leave this wonderful place, and we are already looking forward to...

Taj Kumarakom Resort & Spa is a 5-star luxury resort located in Kumarakom, Kerala, India. It’s a slice of history, once a family estate, now converted into an exclusive resort. Nestled amidst almost 15 acres, it offers 28 exclusive villas and cottages. Here are some highlights: Heritage Room Lagoon-Pool View: These spacious rooms are part of the original Baker’s residential estate, constructed back in 1881. They offer a view of the lagoon.

Premium Cottage Lagoon View: Rediscover tranquillity while sipping your morning tea on a balcony overlooking the lagoon. These cottages also cover an area of 49 square meters. We stayed in this cottage morning we enjoyed nature as it’s like staying in a quiet village with all modern amenities 🥰. The stay was very relaxing and rejuvenating. I celebrated my birthday the hotel staff decorated my room & gave me a cake too 🥰. That night we had moonlight rafting was an awesome experience one should take that ride. The food was excellent. We enjoyed Kerela's cuisine. It was a short stay but enjoyed it a lot hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a houseboat ride we booked through the hotel was a delightful experience &lunch was sumptuous. A variety of tasty dishes of Kerala. We bought crabs &prawns the houseboat staff cooked too 😍. The houseboat was very comfortable. We did a shikara ride too especially bird watching & to see waterlillies. It's an early morning ride our shikara boatman was very helpful. The best part of Taj Kumarakom is their evening tea snacks complimentary from the hotel we enjoyed bhajis &masala tea and yummy marble soft cakes😍 while seeing sunset. So peaceful &you can feed turtle cakes too. They have a turtle-feeding place In all my experience the peace I got there will never forget. If someone loves nature, peace harmony in their daily hectic life should visit Taj Kumarakom in the lap of nature 😍. Point to remember their swimming pool is old and not well maintained or else we enjoyed it a lot 😍. Lastly, the resort is conveniently located near the Kumarakom bird sanctuary and the shores of Vembanad Lake, providing a strong wildlife connection. It’s an ideal destination for a blissful getaway from Kochi, just 48 kilometers away. Whether you’re interested in water sports, guided tours, or nature walks, Taj Kumarakom Resort & Spa has you covered. Enjoy the colonial charm and warm hospitality of this...

Memorable Holiday at Taj Kumarakom Absolutely beautiful property with stunning vistas and scenery. The cottage was extremely comfortable with a lovely view overlooking a large Vembanad lake. The lake side walk within the property really soothing. From the moment my wife, kids and I arrived on this property in the morning we were made to feel at home. The check-in was smooth and fast which done by Kamesh and before we knew it we were happily settled in our beautiful back water view room. The property is surrounded by wonderful flora all over and you feel that you’ve landed in a rainforest. The property is very beautiful. We felt like we were in Bali. The flora and fauna attract lot of beautiful ducks. The pool is lovely. Rooms have a tasteful decor and the hospitality is very much the Taj way - warm and prompt. The property has been developed so well that you will fall in love with you with it the first time you look at it. It's lush Green and will give you an old ENGLSH COTTAGE look which is very beautiful. The short walk from the hotel to Restaurant by the water side is a treat for the senses.

The breakfast in Vembanad Restaurant always had a good selection of beverages, fresh juices and Indian and western options. We ate most of our meals here and the food never failed to impress. Restaurant Manager Nabarun Dutta was always ready to accommodate our request and their staff comprising of Satish, Anand rao, Devi, Biman, Bishwajit ,Ritesh and Chef’s delivered courteous, friendly and non-intrusive service at all times. They even organized a lovely birthday cake table for my wife at the PDR for us on our last night there which warmed our hearts. You could see that they all genuinely loved their work and worked in perfect harmony.

The food her is great, the room service as well as the "CURRYMEEN RESTAURANT". EVERYTHING WAS JUST LIP SMACKING. Housekeeping did their magic by being practically invisible but every time we returned to our room it had been meticulously cleaned and amenities replenished.

Our heartfelt thanks - to the staff for making our stay comfortable and happy and specially to Mr. Mr.Ashirbad (GM) who goes out of his way to delight all his hotel guests. Mr.Ashirbad for maintaining a fabulous team and many thanks for their warmth and care that made our trip unforgettable. We will warmly recommend this hotel and definitely be...

Our family vacation at Taj Kumarakom Resort and Spa, was one of the finest that we had in the recent times. The property is extremely beautiful and overlooks the vast and beautiful Vembanad lake. The resort is done up so well, with the interweaving cobbled pathways, the buggy ride which makes you feel royal, cycles for the enthused and small bridges for the feel. The staff are extremely helpful right from arrival until the checkout. They go out of the way to make the entire stay memorable. We were offered a complimentary double upgrade to a villa, which was spacious, beautiful and kissing the mini water lily pond. The bistros Open Vembanad and CurryMeen had limited but choicest menu. Dont get misled with the limited veg options, and a little conversation with the staff will help you understand that the options are plenty. Mr Vipin, went out of the way, to make special arrangements for us with Pazhampori, Puttu, Ulli Theeyal which were not on the menu and took special orders and made arrangements. Mr Vipin also graciously explained the property and heritage, and with a small interest on the same - took time to show us the older parts of the property dating 150 years back, and how it has been modernized to the current day. The breakfast spread at the open restaurant was fantastic, the lunch and dinner ala-carte options where we were served from a mix of both menus and special orders were thoughtful. Chayakada experience by the lake, snack-and-hot tea, along with sunset was mesmerizing. Mr Vipin also arranged for the Shikara boat ride, on request, and it was precisely planned. The autorick ride to the jetty, shikara board ready for the ride, and the drop back was seamless. We took full advantage of the ZipLine, Pedal boat in the resort lagoon, cultural shows in the evening, cycle rides, Archery, Fishing, Geese feeding, Paintball - all activities arranged by the activity hut - MuddyBoots. Special call outs to Ms Akshaya (Chayakada), Mr Amal (at the bistro), Mr Vishnu (swimming pool incharge), Mr Jashed (Muddy Boots), Ms Priya (front desk). Mr Vipin's recommendations, understanding of our requirements as family, and impeccable arrangements made the entire stay memorable. Thanks to the Taj Kumarakom team, Mr Noyal Jacob and Mr Mayank Mittal for putting together a rockstar team. We look forward to visiting again.
