The waterfall is called Saptakunda Waterfall or Waghora Waterfall Located within the sphere of Ajanta Caves, 100 km from the city of Aurangabad. Do not miss to visit this place if you are visiting the Ajanta Caves. You can see the stream meandering down the Shayadri Mountain Range through a narrow path to the waterfall. The waterfall has 7 pits that look almost like well or pond on the surface of steep rock, (thus the name Saptakunda, meaning Seven Ponds). They are created naturally by gushing water cutting the rock into these pond like holes before it falls into the Waghora River. The view is mesmerizing in the monsoon. Lush green all over, white stream falling against grey-brown rocks, Egrets flying around. It is the panoramic view point from where the complete Ajanta Cave is visible. In a nutshell, it makes a wonderful picnic spot. To reach this place cross over the bridge constructed over the Waghora river across the Ajanta Caves. As you enter the mountain, you will come across Grey Langoors and a good number of small stalls selling seasonal fresh cut fruit seasoned with some yummy spices and the fresh lime water stall to quench your thirst. The waterfall can be reached by climbing for about 10 - 15 minutes uphill, you need a strong muscle and stamina though. Caution: The place being scenic, youngsters try taking selfies unaware of the risk of slipping into the pit sometimes. The waterfall is quite deep, maybe 100 feet or so as it feels looking down. Entry Fee is included in the cave entry fee, Rs. 40 per head for domestic travellers and Rs. 600 for the foreigners, available at the entrance of the cave. Visiting Hours: 9am to 5 pm. Mondays closed

There is a trail from the right side of cave 30 to climb the top of the waterfall. However, due to lack of safety fence, you need to be careful.

Situated on the way from cave 28 to 29 it can be enjoyed in its full glory only during monsoon season
