Overpriced and Underserved: What You Should Know About Hotel Kailas I booked an AC cottage room for a single day for my family, including my 2-year-old daughter, primarily for its proximity to the Ellora Caves. While the location is excellent and the room size was adequate with a nice balcony, the overall experience left much to be desired—especially considering the tariff of over ₹5000 per night.
✅ Pros: Cleanliness: Rooms and bathrooms were clean, which is always appreciated.
Location: Unbeatable location right opposite the Ellora Caves, perfect for early visits before the crowd builds up.
Room Size: Spacious enough for a small family.
❌ Cons: Outdated Infrastructure: The rooms and bathroom fittings seem stuck in the 1990s with little to no modernization.
Bed Setup: The room had two single beds joined together instead of a proper double bed, which was a major inconvenience—our daughter kept slipping into the gap between the mattresses.
Lack of Essentials: No glasses, no kettle—quite problematic when traveling with a toddler. Only one small Santoor soap was provided as a toiletry.
No Room Telephone: No internal phone for room service. We were given a landline number to call the reception from our personal mobile phones.
TV Not Working: TV was out of order due to wiring issues, which the staff acknowledged but couldn’t resolve.
Poor Service Attitude: The staff appeared indifferent and lethargic. Requests like an iron box were outright denied. There was a noticeable lack of hospitality or service orientation.
Food & Dining Experience: Despite the high room tariff, breakfast wasn’t included. The on-site restaurant was underwhelming. The so-called "grilled sandwich" was essentially warm bread with vegetables, as the grill wasn’t working. No provisions for baby food either. After much insistence, they served dal khichdi for our daughter—at full charge.
No Value for Money: At this price point, the hotel fails to justify its tariff with the kind of amenities and service offered.
Final Verdict: Hotel Kailas has potential due to its location and spacious rooms, but it sorely lacks modern amenities and basic customer service. The management appears to be stuck in the past, and unless there is a significant upgrade in both infrastructure and staff attitude, it cannot be recommended—especially to families with...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights in the month of November 2023. We had planned for the jyotirlinga darshan which is situated at a walking distance from the property, so hence it was top of my list for the booking. We stayed in an AC cottage and it was simply outstanding , though it might look old to you , but the maintenance and upkeep of all the furnishings , fittings of the washroom , etc. seemed to be well taken care of . Washroom was clean , and quite spacious. My only suggestion would be , all the electrical lightings were of a daylight setting which might seem a tad low at night, maybe a tubelight could have been fitted to help the same. Also , the property is also walking distance apart from the famous Ellora caves, making location as its biggest USP. They have an in-house restaurant and they serve good food , which caused no disappointment. They serve good varieties of delicacies, subject to availability. My special appreciation for the restaurant staff , who for one moment went out of the way to provide us food in our room since it started raining all of a sudden and we had no umbrella . Kudos for such behaviour! Moments like these wins our heart ! My future visit to this area , will have this hotel as the preferred...
Read moreWe went to Grishneswar Jyotirlinga near Shambaji Nagar on 22 November 2024. We need to stay for 2 nights to have darshan of Jyotirlinga and Ellora Caves. Initially we planned to stay at Shambaji Nagar ten I found Hotel Kailash just by the side of Ellora caves and checked. I found that this hotel is good and stayed here for 2 nights. This is a Huge Property with AC and non AC Cottages. The Cottages are spacious and clean and decent. The Cottage has a large and decent Bath Room, Toiletries are provided and the Bed covers, blankets, Towels are all clean. The attached Restaurant serves good food and I think this is the only decent and Hygrine Restaurant in this area. The food is very good. Most of the People visiting Ellora caves all take Lunch here. The staff are very good and very co operative, particularly Mr Santosh, the manager. I contacted him for Taxi from Airport and for arrangements for Puja at Temple. He provided contacts who are Excellent. He is always there to help and his response on calls and Whats App are very prompt. I feel that the property needs a bit more maintenance and up keep. Its very large and may take a more effort....
