Visiting Pushkar, a sacred town in Rajasthan, India, is a unique experience. Pushkar Lake: is a sacred lake in the heart of the town, where pilgrims take a dip. There are many ghats named as Brahma ghat, Gau ghat, Shiv Shakti ghat, Varah ghat, Surya ghat, Agni, GwaliorGwalior, Narsinha ghat and so on. You can also follow and just walk along the Parikrama Marg - the path encircling Pushkar Lake. However sunset is the best time and best spot to sit along the lake and relax just to witness the amazing view of sunset. You will definitely enjoy the photo shoot if interested in it. Watching the sunset at Pushkar Lake is a magical experience. As the sun dips below the surrounding hills and the tranquil waters of the lake, it creates a picturesque setting. Pilgrims often walk around the lake as a form of religious practice. However day by day, Pushkar is losing it's charm due to the dirty wastes spread around it and not maintaining the cleanliness of this divine beauty. Keeping Pushkar Lake clean is essential to preserve its beauty and ecological balance. I suggest to avoid using single-use plastics around the lake and carry reusable water bottles and bags to reduce plastic waste. One should respect the religious significance of the lake by not throwing any waste, including flowers or religious offerings, into the water. Soaps, detergents, or shampoos when taking a bath in the lake can harm the water and aquatic life. By being responsible and taking collective action, tourists and locals can ensure that Pushkar Lake remains a clean and pristine environment for generations to come. Hoping for the better future of this...
Read morePushkar is a city and headquarters of Pushkar tehsil in the Ajmer district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is situated about 10 km (6.2 mi) northwest of Ajmer and about 150 kilometres (93 mi) southwest of Jaipur.1] It is a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Sikhs. Pushkar has many temples. Most of the temples and ghats in Pushkar are from the 18th century and later, because many temples were destroyed during Muslim conquests in the area.[1 Subsequently, the destroyed temples were rebuilt. The most famous among Pushkar temples is the red spired Brahma Temple. It is considered a sacred city by the Hindus particularly in Shaktism,1 and meat and eggs consumption are forbidden in the city.[4] Pushkar is located on the shore of Pushkar Lake, which has many ghats where pilgrims bathe.[3] Pushkar is also significant for its Gurdwaras for Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh. One of the bathing ghats is called Gobind ghat built by the Sikhs in the memory of Guru Gobind Singh. Pushkar is famous for its annual fair (Pushkar Camel Fair) featuring a trading fete of cattle, horses and camels.[1] It is held over seven days in autumn marking Kartika Purnima according to the Hindu calendar (Kartik (month), October or November). It attracts nearly 200,000 people.[3] In 1998, Pushkar hosted about 1 million domestic (95%) and international tourists over...
Read morePushkar is a truly nice destination. Unlike other cities, the people here respect your space and wishes. A simple polite "no" is often met with a gracious smile and a wish for a lovely day.
However, it's crucial to be aware of some pitfalls during your visit. One area of concern is the presence of individuals often referred to as “gypsy women,” who tend to beg for money.
Our greatest disappointment, which significantly affected our time in Pushkar, was encountering scammers near the water who perform rituals. While the concept of these rituals can be intriguing, the psychological tactics employed by some individuals can be quite aggressive, pushing you to donate large sums of money to their families in need. To give their operation an air of legitimacy, they have set up a stall with a signage reading "donation."
We advise you to be cautious with your contributions. The locals usually give far less—typically around 50 to 100 INR, while tourists may be pressured to part with much more. A reasonable donation should be between 100 to 200 INR at most. Remember, it's all a ruse aimed at exploiting unsuspecting visitors.
Despite these challenges, Pushkar's unique character and peaceful ambiance are worth experiencing. Just stay mindful of the potential scams, and you'll enjoy this beautiful city...
