One of those peaceful shrines of lord murugan located on a small but nice rock structure at the heart of the city in between tambaram & chrompet... if you're one of the persons fulfilling the tuesday ritual of worshipping murugan or has some prayer ritual to complete, this place is not too much crowded even on tuesdays... very well n cleanly maintained by the temple devasthanam (never I'll mention aranilayathurai). Has almost close to 100 steps to climb, has a good view of the city. Accessible place from tambaram or chrompet, added perk is that it has the hasthinapuram bus depot less than a km from the shrine which operates regular buses to prime parts of the city or you can board 52h from chrompet which is available all day... car parking is not available you've to park on nearby streets... you've a lot of vegetarian restaurants and orthodox coffee shops in & around the area.... overall it's a calm n peaceful place to visit n get dharshan of lord murugan.... as an alternate to vadapalani n siruvaapuri try this less known murugan shrine one time.......

The discovery propelled the people to hasten the building of the temple. The people performed the consecration of the Sri Swaminathaswamy temple in 1979. Gradually, more shrines were added.
Here, the deity of Shiva (Sundareswarar) appears under the Ghajabrushta Vimaanam in the north-facing sanctum. Goddess Meenakshi has a sanctum facing east side.
