Kaatu Azhaghiasingar koil Srirangam This temple is near Srirangam station and the deity is Lakshmi Narasimha. Known as Kaatu Azhaghiasingar koil(The Beautiful Lion of the forests) because this area used to be full of forests . The story goes that several rishis used to live here and were tormented by wild animals .They prayed to Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha who anwered their prayers and stayed at the area to protect them. One can walk from the railway station to reach here or take an auto from Srirangam temple . The temple opens at 6.15 a.m.-8.00 a.m. Again at 9.00 a.m.-12.00 p.m. Evening temple is open from5.00p.m.-8.00p.m.As one enters the temple there are shops selling Tulasi garlands as also fruits sugar candy and Pooja items. There is on the left a mandapam where Namperumal comes during Vijaya Dasami and stays till late evening. As we proceed inside there are taps where we can wash our feet before entering the temple premises. To our right is a beautiful auditorium where dances and cultural programmes take place. At the dwaja sthambam outside we can see beautiful big kolams done by devotees. After crossing the threshold there is another dwajasthambam where people do namaskarams. There is also a big lamp where devotees can pour their oil offerings. As we proceed on the leftside we come across a flight of steps which leads us to the sanctum sanctorum. One can buy archana tickets at the entrance and offer our pranams to Garudazhwar facing Perumal. As we move along inside we reach the sannidhi housing the most Beautiful Narasimha with an even more Beautiful Lakshmi seated on His Lap. One can make offerings of panagam here by bringing powdered jaggery and dried ginger in a vessel. The priest adds water to it and offers it to Azhaghia singa. It was for the sake of a five year old Prahlada that Narayana took this Form. This Perumal faces west and only Moolavar is to be seen. The Utsavar is at Koorathazhwan sannidhi inside Sri Ranganatha temple. After getting Theertham, Sri sathari and manjal kaapu (turmeric paste) one cames out and exits by the right fleet of steps. Then it is time for pradakshinam or circumbulation. As we turn right we see a number of snake idols on a platform under a huge banyan tree and a vahni tree or shamika tree which is where the pandavas hid their weapons during the period they had to stay incognito. As we move along clockwise there is a sannidhi for Chakrathazhwar and further down a Hanuman on the pillars. As we go around the temple Madapalli can be spotted and people can be seen distributing panakam offered to Naraimha to devotees. During the month of Karthigai sahasra (1000) deepams are lit every Sunday .
