Read moreThe Pasar Penuin Wet Market with shops was near the hotel I stayed, Artotel Batam. 3 minutes walk. I came across 3 stalls selling fried banana, 油條 (fried dough sticks), apong. I tried the fried banana of all 3 stalls, the best one was the fritter sold by Akim Fried Banana. The coating was crispy and not too oily and banana was soft and sweet. The other 2 stalls fried banana was hard. Akim stall was along the side corridor of the market, not inside the wet market. Take note the wet market stalls, including Akim goreng pisang, close at about noon. I bought some nyonya kuih 娘惹糕點 from the stall at the wet market, only Rp3000 (about SGD 0.30 cents) per small packet....
