Despite the hype surrounding this establishment and the effort I made to beat the long queues by arriving at 7 am, my experience was far from satisfactory.First and foremost, the coffee served was not only lukewarm but also tasted worse than a generic 3 in 1 coffee mix. This lackluster start set the tone for the rest of my dining experience. Additionally, the wait time for food was unreasonably long, adding to my frustration. When the food finally arrived, the quality was subpar. The crystal dumplings were sour, prompting us to return them, and the char siew pao bun had a texture that uncomfortably stuck to my teeth. While the prawn dumplings and chicken feet were passable, they failed to redeem the overall dining experience.Furthermore, the fresh watermelon juice was excessively sweetened, ruining its natural flavor. Even classic dimsum staples like siew mai and salted egg pao fell short of expectations—the latter resembling bread more than traditional pao.Not only was the food disappointing, but the price point was also unjustifiably high compared to other options in Batam. Despite the trendy vibe and aesthetically pleasing environment, these factors failed to compensate for the lack of quality and value. In conclusion, I strongly advise against dining at [Dimsum Restaurant Name]. While it may appeal to those unfamiliar with dimsum cuisine, those with prior dimsum experience will likely find it sorely lacking. My early morning effort to queue for this establishment was met with profound disappointment, and I urge others to avoid making the...
Read moreI came here around 7 PM, and the environment wasn’t very crowded.
We ordered several items from the menu. Most of the dishes appeared to be pre-frozen rather than freshly made. I ordered the wonton soup, but some of the dumplings were still hard and partially frozen. The same goes for the xiao long bao and shrimp hakau—the skins were tough, and if you leave them for a bit, they harden even more.
I clearly told the waiter that we wanted the sweet and sour chicken, but they served us sweet and sour pork instead. The waiter didn’t mention anything during service, and I only found out when I was settling the bill. The cashier insisted that I had ordered sweet and sour pork, but I definitely tasted chicken, not pork. However, they denied it and still charged us for the pork dish.
To add to the experience, while I was still eating the sweet and sour chicken, a waiter suddenly came over and asked, “Are you finished with the dish?” It was quite funny and rude—I was clearly still eating, yet they were already trying to clear the plates.
This was my first time dining here, and unfortunately, it was marked by a disappointing and subpar...
Read moreIn my opinion, the food at this place is just average compared to many other excellent dim sum restaurants I've visited. However, it's probably the best option in Batam, so I can't really compare it to other choices there. The steamed chicken was rather dry and seemed to have been pre-cooked for a while. The flavor was also not very appetizing, with some peculiar spices added. The roast duck was okay but too dry for my liking. The steamed braised chicken feet and the fried Chinese-style carrot cake were probably the highlights of the meal. Unfortunately, the century egg porridge was disappointing. Usually, the porridge is cooked with century egg to infuse the flavor, rather than just adding the century egg on top of plain porridge. This lazy way of preparing the porridge affected its taste. The flavor of the steamed spare ribs was good, but they were more bone than meat. The steamed dumplings were average, and the chong fun had a rather thick wrapping for the pork. The key to success for this dish is having silky and thin rice wrapping. On the bright side, the service was attentive, and the...
