The series takes place at the Gokuldham Society, an apartment complex in Powder Galli, Goregaon East, Mumbai with four wings: A Wing, B Wing, C Wing and D Wing. Although the society has 17 flats, the show revolves around the lives of eight families:

Jethalal Champaklal Gada, an owner of electronics shop named "Gada Electronics" from Kachchh district, Gujarat, his wife Daya, father Champaklal and son Tipendra (Tapu). Residents of B Wing. He often lands in trouble and takes help of his best friend, Taarak, and hence calls him his personal "Fire Brigade". Also, Jethalal finds different ways to flirt with Babitaji, living in C-wing, wife of Krishnan Subramaiam Iyer.

The narrator, Taarak Mehta works for a trading company and is a column-writer and his wife Anjali, a disciplined dietician who are from Gujarat. Residents of B Wing.

Krishnan Subramaniam Iyer, a Tamil scientist from Chennai, Tamil Nadu and his Bengali wife Babita, a former dancer from Kolkata, West Bengal. Residents of C Wing.

The society's secretary, Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide, a home tutor from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, his wife Madhavi, and daughter Sonalika (Sonu). Residents of A Wing.

Dr. Hansraj Hathi, the resident doctor from Bihar, his wife Komal and son Gulabkumar (Goli). Residents of A Wing.

Roshan Singh Harjeet Singh Sodhi, a mechanic who own a car garage from Amritsar, Punjab, his Parsi wife, also named Roshan and their son Gurucharan Singh Sodhi (Gogi). Residents of A Wing.

Patrakaar Popatlal Bhagwatiprasad Pandey, from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He works as a senior crime reporter in Toofan Express. Has won many awards, the most important being "The Golden Crow Award". Resident of C Wing. Bachelor from years, is obsessed about his marriage. Has his name in many marriage bureaus, but is bachelor till date.

Pankaj Diwan Sahay, also called Pinku, part of the Tapu sena and resides in another society (Gulmohar Apartments) (the Tapu sena didn’t know about his personal background since the start of 2008) They later came to know about it . His parents work for country's secret agencies

Many episodes center on Jethalal Gada getting into some trouble, which other society members help...

A nice place for a fresh seafood dinner on the beach, but please watch out for the horrible taxi mafia thugs who control this area and ruined our otherwise wonderful last night in Bali.

If you are anywhere within a 5 minute walk (approx) of the bay and try and order a taxi from any other company (GoJek etc) the Taxi Mafia they will chase you down to harass you and your taxi driver without warning.

We ordered a GoJek to avoid the normal scams we have faced many times in tourist areas (fare changes, no change).

We were hunted down twice and forced out of our taxis both times by groups of angry thugs.

The Jimbaran taxi mafia couldn’t care less about our baby, who after this ordeal was in tears and screaming.

Please enjoy some pics of the aggressive and heartless taxi thugs who try and extort tourists in this area.

Bali is a wonderful place to visit, but the country seriously needs to solve its “taxi wars”. The otherwise positive experiences of tourists can be quickly ruined by such problems & aggressive behaviour.

P.s. It’s not about the money. We tip our drivers exorbitantly. We are travelling with a young child and we prefer the security of booking online, tracking the drivers arrival, having a fixed price & being able to tip generously on our own accord.

P.p.s. Thank you to our GoJek driver who went above and beyond to get us home. He was an example of the true Balinese hospitality we have experienced 99% of the time in...

Jimbaran is directly south of the airport, on the way from Denpasar towards Nusa Dua. Jimbaran village is the narrow neck of Bali Island, and thus it has two remarkably different beaches. On the west, Jimbaran Beach faces the Jimbaran Bay, recently lined by new luxurious resorts. On the east, the beach faces the body of water sheltered by Benoa Harbor. Jimbaran is a sleepy cove where fleets of fishing boats color the scene. Formerly a relatively quiet area, its image has improved dramatically with the opening of the beautiful Four Season's Resort and the Inter-Continental. The last couple of years, it has become even busier still with grilled seafood restaurants going up at a rapid pace along the beach, attracting local families and tourists in droves. Located on Bali's west coast, Jimbaran offers a small-secluded beach area, where tranquility and perfect peace is the perfect antidote to a stressful world. The land gently slopes away from the beach revealing exclusive celebrity haunts hidden under a canopy of leafy tropical forest. A popular spot for windsurfing and sailing small craft, which are available for rent, Jimbaran's grey sand and calm waters are attracting more people but the beach still has a sleepy feeling. A day at Jimbaran is made even more popular because of the all the wonderful options to eat. Choose from simple local food, the freshest fish or 5-star luxury. It is also a popular...
