Probably one of the most beautiful beaches in south bali. Entrance is charged, I don't know how much because at each entrance we pay everytime a different price, but most often you pay for 2 people and a motorbike 33k. The beach is ideal both at high tide and low tide. We like to spend whole days here. We also go to the beach for sunsets which are beautiful. New is the kecak dance on the edge of the beach, which not many people know about so there is always space to sit but I still recommend the kecak at the uluwatu temple. There are several beach clubs on the beach, which are beautiful but more expensive, I recommend going there only if you want to spend the whole day on the beach, because there is always a paid entrance but with minimum spending. At the back of the beach under the white rock club is a beautiful quiet beach with bars where you can pay for sunbeds, the price is regularly rising currently for 2 sunbeds with a sun umbrella you pay for the whole day 150k, the price is not very agreeable, at most if you arrive later before sunset you can agree the price to 100k. In the bars you can eat or buy a drink but the prices are a bit higher, so I recommend to bring own food and drink. Near the bar there is a beach without deck chairs where you can enjoy the day without paying on a towel, thanks to the rock there is shade during the day, on the rock jumping monkeys so be careful of your things so that the monkeys do not steal them and especially do not feed them otherwise you will not get rid of them. At low tide it is possible to walk on the corals, which are full of crabs, urchins, stars, small fishs etc. At low tide you will also find many fishermen or hunters who will be happy to talk to you and show you what they are looking for in the sea. There is always an old lady on the beach who will bother you with selling you a bracelets, you can always negotiate the price with her, but even if you don't want to buy anything she will go away. We found jellyfish on the beach one afternoon, the sand is fine...
Read moreMelasti Beach: A Review with the Good, the Bad, and the Sandy Melasti Beach in Bali is a beautiful stretch of coastline, but like any place, it has its pros and cons. Here's an honest review to help you decide if it's the perfect beach for you:
The Good: Stunning scenery: The beach boasts soft, white sand, clear blue water, and dramatic rock formations. It's a photographer's paradise, especially at sunset when the sky explodes with color. Relaxing vibes: Unlike some of the more crowded beaches in Bali, Melasti offers a sense of tranquility. It's a great place to unwind, soak up the sun, and listen to the waves crash. Clean and accessible: The beach is well-maintained, with clean changing rooms and readily available food stalls and restaurants. The entrance fee is minimal, and parking is available. Unique experiences: Melasti Beach is a popular spot for pre-wedding photoshoots and traditional Balinese ceremonies. Witnessing these cultural events can be a unique and enriching experience.
The Not-So-Good: Limited shade: There are few natural sources of shade on the beach, so be sure to bring an umbrella or rent a beach chair with one. Waves can be strong: While swimming is generally safe, the waves can be strong, especially during certain times of the year. Keep an eye on children and exercise caution if you're not a strong swimmer. Development: The area around Melasti Beach is seeing significant development, which may affect the peaceful atmosphere some visitors seek. Distance from main areas: The beach is located on the southern tip of the island, so it can be a bit of a journey from the main tourist areas.
Overall: Melasti Beach is a beautiful and relatively uncrowded beach with stunning scenery and a relaxed atmosphere. However, it's important to be aware of the limited shade, strong waves, and ongoing development before you go. If you're looking for a peaceful beach escape with breathtaking views, Melasti Beach is worth considering, but be prepared to come prepared with sun protection and be mindful...
Read morePublic beach on the southern bali Ungasan coastline with white sand and huge limestone cliffs for its backdrop. Entry by private car or bike requires a small entrance fee of 10k IDR . The approach to the beach is quite stunning as the approach road is carved into the limestone cliffs overlooking the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. It’s a swimming beach rather than a surfing one most common in this part of Bali. The Beach has multiple high end beach clubs & restaurants ( Minoo, white rock etc) as well as local cafes and it certainly gets crowded on weekends and at sunset!
Overall a beautiful white sand beach with good facilities . But there is also a nuisance of a TRANSPORT CARTEL which blatantly Overcharges. There are a number of beaches here which pray on the tourist so just go prepared or be prepared to be the fodder of the Melasti taxi cartel aimed at you the TOURIsT!
This cartel that prevents you from ordering any transport for pickup (gojek or grab or otherwise) whether it’s bike of car. It’s a nuisance as only local transports can be used to either bring you to the exit point before your pickup bike or taxi service can be used ( and they charge you 100000k for a 2 min ride up to the exit) or u could pay up to 500000k for a taxi ride.
I think a public transport service could be useful to the pickup point at a reasonable charge. I don’t see the need to blatantly overcharge tourist especially in todays day of gojek services . The other suggestion is for users of the high end clubs to have car services to the exit .. cos that would make such blatant overcharging more palatable.
I’ll just say that the neighbouring beaches to Melasti do not have such a rule so at least you have choice whether you would like to be at the mercy of the...
