Our first beach club experience, family of 4 adults (late 20's to early 60's) and Tropical Temptations was perfect for us. We were most impressed by the food. It might have been the best food we had during our whole Bali trip. The beef dish was sooo tender, and the pizza... I've never had a thinner crust! My parents are super picky with food, with an Asian preference, and even they loved the food. We got a pool side lounge bed for the day for $300ish CAD total and had lunch and dinner there and it wasn't a bad deal at all. The prices for food and drinks are higher than elsewhere in Bali, actually pretty close to usual CAD prices, but we found $300 was more than enough for 4 of us to have 2 meals each. We loved that the vibe wasn't /too/ clubby, we felt comfortable relaxing on the bed, eating, going to the beach, without feeling out of place amongst any kind of clubby crowd. Even when it got later into the evening and more dancing was encouraged, the staff and performers were so welcoming of my 60 something year old mom who loves to dance but is shy about it. We so appreciated that!! People bring their kids and we even saw someone who brought their dog. At first we were worried about the children causing a nuisance but it was fine (though something to note if you're trying to have a totally child-free experience) and we found it added to the "everyone welcome" vibe we were looking for.
There are I think 4 showers total so expect a bit of a wait if you're there during busy season. It was totally fine for us when we were there mid June. Bathrooms are also limited but I swear every time I went, there was someone there cleaning. Showers and bathrooms double as change rooms. Lockers are available for rent but we just left our things on our daybed and felt comfortable.
It was easy to arrange our day bed reservation with staff over WhatsApp.
Another note is that you cannot bring in outside food or drinks - There is a sort of "snack valet" at the front though and they bundled our snacks from our drive together, gave us a ticket, and gave everything back to us when we left that night.
Sunset is beautiful though you don't get to see it directly as the club is on the south tip of the island. We found that worked well for us as we were directly in the sun and heat for too long, though also the umbrella worked very well to give us some shade.
The beach attached to the club is beautiful. Rocky and shallow in the water, so not exactly for swimming, but super calm and clear so we enjoyed sitting in it and exploring the rocks. Sand is fine and soft. Bring water shoes if you'd like to explore further on the rocks though, they're sharp.
For anyone wondering how the minimum spend thing works, like us, since it was our first time at a beach club: Depending on the type of spot you want to reserve, there's a max number of people and a minimum spend per spot. We wanted a lounge bed by the pool which is max 4 ppl and min spend $300. When we arrived, we paid $300 (in IDR) and then went right in. Then you just order food and drinks to your heart's content and the amount gets "deducted" from the $300 you already paid. If you get close to spending it all, the staff let you know. In our case, we had a bit leftover when we left and the staff triple checked with us that we didn't want anything else. We were seriously stuffed and still had I believe the equivalent of $7 left after a lunch and dinner for the 4 of us. You don't get to "cash out" the remaining amount or anything so if you can squeeze more in your tummy, try to do so. We even packed half a pizza and fried rice to go!
Other note: the beach in front of the club is not private. Locals and tourists will be there, just expect that. We found more tourists arrived closer to the late afternoon time and it was quiet in the...
Read moreDon’t get fooled by glorious reviews here and high score stars here.. they are all fake. They bribe guests offer free ice cream for a good review. The guy will stay beside you and read what you wrote before you post it. So the review has to be good to get ice cream. Sorry Im not for sell and certainly want people to read my story. 3 weeks in Bali & I can say by far this half day spent here was the most horrible experience in Bali. terrible customer service and worse attitude you would see in Bali. So pretentious. Ugh.. not only I don’t recommend but also I highly recommend to go to another beach club right there you have so many other better options. Believe me when I say they are the worse. You are just an ATM machine to them. That is the attitude. How can they take more and more money out of you. food is extremely expensive and underwhelming taste they won’t allow you to bring your own bottle water or towels because they want to charge you tripper for it, they even check your bag! I took my tumbler with me, at the door the security emptied it. From inside I brought a bottle of water and filled up my tumbler to keep it cold and handy for when I move around and go to beach or swimming pools. The super rude manager came to me and told me not to use it. When I show him the bill that I paid for this water in the beach club he told me still I cannot put it on the table.. it should not be visible. I put it aside.. another time when I was dirking my water that I paid for.. he came to me and said ‘you cannot use your bottle here, other guests may see it.) I told him this is very intrusive and he is ruining my experience. It is my right to drink from my own reusable bottle if the water is paid for. He would not go and leave me alone. I could not believe this.. what a disaster and disappointment customer service. Generally at all time you feel like you are being watched and very uncomfortable. My partner left his shirt on the table when he took it out. He went for shower and when he came back someone from staff asked him to put it on the bed not on the table! I don’t get how this is even something you should care about..never mind daring to mention that to a customer. another frustrating moment was ordering their overpriced menu with fries.. and there were few fries left in the basket when I sat back to chill a bit and eat later. Can you believe I got bothered 5 times within 30 min..asking “are you done miss? Can I take it” which on the 5th time I said ‘yeah, you know what take it.. man.. they dont even let you finish to clear the table. You cannot just rest there for a bit constantly getting bothered by staff or manager for something you did wrong or leaving a forced review or asking you to order more. we were told that the table is for us for the whole day until we leave and at some point someone came to us and told us if we need the bill!? Are you kidding me.. what a waste of money. There are so many better beach club than this please save your self a trouble and go to a nice place and get a good service with friendly staff.. this place is horrible and specially the way staff treat you is nothing like you are treated anywhere else certainly not in Bali. some doesn’t talk a single English word, so it’s hard to communicate with never will ever go to this place and make sure to post about them on social media so my friends know not to ever come...
Read moreI don't usually post reviews, but because of what happened yesterday, I'm going to do it. First of all, I'd like to say that the place is spectacular, with a great atmosphere and good music, but I'm going to comment on the attitude of one of the employees. We arrived from the beach and asked if we could have some drinks. They told us the minimum consumption for tables and beds downstairs, which we didn't want to spend, and this employee told us to go upstairs, that there was no minimum consumption, and that we could use the facilities downstairs. We said that we were going to look at other options and decide, and this person, super nice (at that time), asked us about our nationality, invited us to stay, and tried to convince us, but my partner and I preferred to see all the options. After seeing them, we went back to the place, and this time we entered through the main door upstairs. We asked for one of the tables upstairs with no minimum consumption, signed an entry form, and they assigned us a table. We ordered two beers (expensive, but the facilities are worth it) and went down to the pool with the beers. Suddenly, we saw this employee and I was telling him that we had finally decided to stay, and this employee, who had encouraged us to stay, with a great smile, no longer had that smile, he looked at us horribly and started telling us to get out of the pool. We thought he was telling us that we couldn't drink in the pool, so we went out and suddenly a security guard appeared, who was basically inviting us to leave the premises. We tried to explain to him that we had a table upstairs and they had told us that we could come to the pool, that we didn't understand the problem. The employee, at no time during all this embarrassment we went through, decided to show up. Suddenly the manager, with whom we had signed papers 10 minutes before, also came to ask us things like where we had come from. We couldn't believe the situation. Finally the situation was resolved after a while and the manager explained to us that they thought we were people who had come from the beach. We were hallucinating. We had two beers from their bar, and they thought that? The manager didn't remember us when we had signed papers with her 10 minutes before? And of course the one who had organized the whole problem was that employee, who instead of asking us what we were doing there, decided to call security and not show up at any time during the problem. So, that employee, who I hope takes notice if you are reading this, is a disgrace. This is not the attitude of a bar with this cachet. And at the bar, his way of apologizing was to invite us to a shot...
