An excellent choice by a member of our family group. An ideal villa bolt hole for three family couples to meet, chill out and relax.||||A short taxi distance from the centre of Ubud, we were glad to be in the peaceful environment that surrounds the Atman Villas. I say "peaceful" - more of how that was broken later.||||One of those places where you initially go WOW and then after three four days, you begin to see little things which the management will need to consider in the months to come if the Atman Villas are to stay high quality accommodation villas of choice.||||Spacious and well laid out, the four bedrooms are all well appointed, each with bathroom. The stand out master room is excellent and one we were glad to enjoy.||||The dining area was perfectly fine although the kitchen area is beginning to show signs of tiredness around the fixtures and fittings/wash area.||||The breakfast choice and service was exceptionally good and a joy each morning. A menu fit for a king and much enjoyed by us.||||The niggles. Look nothing major. I have touched on the "tired bit" earlier and indeed when you begin to look a bit closer, the furniture and decoration is showing signs of being "lived in". The pool is not the cleanest and interestingly coloured one member of our party's blonde hair green! A smell of copper sulphate might be the clue here, but if you don't want to use tomato sauce to recover the situation, wear a hair cap or don't get your hair wet. The walls with the next villa were thin and for the first three nights we listened to regular "arguments" courtesy of the "guests" next door. When they went we had a good nights sleep. No coincidence. Finally a couple within our party had a badly smelling toilet that despite regular cleaning failed to improve. Drain problems you would not normally expect of a villa of this calibre...||||Anyway, back to the positives and Sudrika the "go to" villa driver was a delightful man who we got to know and who took us out to see all the local sights - see earlier reviews for the typical places we went to. Sud' also took us back to the airport from where I write this review. Note the villa allows a free transfer in to Ubud once a day which is good.||||Final note is nothing to do with the Atman Villas, but I have to name check the EXCELLENT Sacred Rice Restaurant which is a five minute walk away and offers truly wonderful cuisine of international standard in a most beautiful location. Book early to avoid disappointment.||||So in summary, yes I would most certainly recommend and hope the management just take note of the points made (with the exception of noisy neighbours) so that standards are maintained and don't slip. Thank you ER and thank...
Read moreI was so pleasantly surprised at this place upon arrival. I chose Kutus Kutus after considering a lot of options in Ubud, and I am so glad I did! It’s boutique and beautiful. The staff are lovely and very friendly the rooms are spacious, clean and lovely. My King bed was so comfortable. I arrived here right before NYEPI - if you’re planning a trip in March be sure to look up the date for NYEPI! I arrived in the morning to avoid parade celebration traffic jams and they took care of me immediately. There is no restaurant on the grounds but there’s a day club (Titi Batu - great place to lounge poolside, have a meal and/or workout! it's not free to use the pool/gym, there's a small day pass fee but the restaurant is open to public). There are other great food options within walking distance - plenty of vegan/vegetarian options too. The street is also very nice and inviting to walk - the google maps images of the street are very outdated if you are trying to gauge how safe and inviting the street is. It is very lovely on the road.
They do prepare Breakfast for guests on the premises and for Nyepi they actually offered a dinner menu for guests (I didn't take the Nyepi dinner but it had great options like Duck and Chicken). The Bathrooms are huge w a huge tub and separate waterfall shower. There's a large vanity area with ample space for your toiletries and they also provide essential items - I forgot to bring a brush/comb but one of the hospitality items provided was a comb!) My room (Superior 4) had an oversized sofa in front facing the pool, other units also have comfy outdoor lounge furniture to enjoy lounging outside the room. I spent most of my time on my sofa working with my laptop! Note, if you are a person who needs to be in freezing cold air-conditioned environments - good luck to you in Bali. I personally found the weather to be quite lovely and enjoyable outside and I spent a lot of time out. But also, the A/C units in the room work very well, very cold - I actually turned my unit off every night so I could sleep (it was too cold for me). I took a walk to the main road and walked to the local market (I’m from NYC and we walk). If you don’t use your legs and drive everywhere, you will complain. However if you are active, the walk is lovely, just beware there are not proper sidewalks but the locals know the roads better than anyone and are used to pedestrians sharing the road with motor bikes and larger vehicles. The hotel has bicycles on premise to use also. Across the street there is a taxi station in case you need to arrange tours or travel to another part of the island. Highly recommend this place, it should have...
Read moreAtman Villas.....Wow! what an amazing place to stay. Open air, stunning full sized kitchen, plenty of places to sit back and relax and the bedrooms and bathrooms are something straight out of a lifestyle magazine.||Our accommodation included breakfast which was brought to the villa each day. So much to choose from and an abundant amount of delicious food. Also offered is a menu from the sister Atman Kafe which is delivered to the villas if you want to stay in for lunch or the evening. When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly team and that set the scene for the rest of our stay. We also had a free return shuttle included each day into Ubud. The centre of Ubud is too far to walk, and not a huge amount of things within walking distance, so the shuttle is just great. The team can arrange for a driver to take you on day trips as well for a very reasonable fee. Our driver (Sudrika) I would recommend him very highly as he is very friendly, reliable and has good local knowledge. The internet we found to be unreliable (there were some problems initially and a technician was arranged quickly to look at it, but was never really that great). Not so much a problem, switch your phones off and just enjoy the serenity. The only real negative that I would comment on would be that the pool wasn't as clean as I would have expected. It was a bit mossy on the bottom and probably needs a good scrub. Still swimmable, but I thought fixing this would make Atman Villas...
