Avoid Galway City Karting – Rude, Dismissive Staff & Poor Customer Service

If you’re considering Galway City Karting, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. My partner and I had an incredibly disappointing experience due to the unprofessionalism, rudeness, and dismissive attitude of the staff—especially a man named Martin at the front desk.

My partner’s kart was not working properly for 18 out of the 20 minutes. When she pulled in to report the issue, a track staff member simply opened and closed the choke, then sent her back out for one extra lap—completely ignoring the fact that she had spent almost her entire session in a faulty kart.

When we brought this up at the front desk, Martin said he would test the kart himself. After doing so, instead of addressing my partner properly, he ignored her and walked past. When we asked for an update, his response was, “It’s driving fine; doesn’t seem to be any issues with the kart—it’s your word against his.” This was after his own colleague had already admitted to adjusting something on the kart mid-session. So how exactly was it “her word against his” when his own staff had confirmed there was a problem?

Then, in a blatant attempt to rile us up further, Martin accused my partner of driving with the brake on—a completely baseless and unnecessary comment. My partner, who has been driving for years, immediately corrected him, but he dismissed her with a cheeky remark and then condescendingly told her, “No need to get aggressive.” This was completely unwarranted, as he was the one making slick comments designed to provoke a reaction.

When I called him out on his contradictions and the fact that he had basically called my partner a liar, his response was to act defensive, accuse us both of being aggressive, and storm out mid-conversation to “calm down.” He returned only to try and shut the conversation down by handing us the manager’s email and offering a refund—without a real apology or any accountability for how poorly the situation was handled.

Beyond the terrible service, the track itself is small, boring, and absolutely not worth €30 for 20 minutes—especially when you’re stuck in a malfunctioning kart half the time. The overall atmosphere was unwelcoming, and the staff on track weren’t particularly friendly either.

Bottom line: If you want a fun karting experience with staff who actually respect their customers, go elsewhere. Galway City Karting is a waste of...

A slightly different experience to Pallas Karting. This is an indoor circuit so no getting wet if it's a rainy day. It's short though but you can still bomb around it and the kids loved the fact you can slide the karts easily through/around corners. A racing line is drawn on the track too so you can get the max speed around. Again the session was just our group so all very comfortable. All staff were nice and polite and instructor/ Marshall was very helpful. The 20mins flew and everyone was very happy with their session. You can do a 40min session too. Session is timed and you get your print out at the end detailing lap times with fastest lap, and placings....
