We went for a tour on Easter Monday. It was so disappointing from start to finish. The ‘tour guide’ really didn’t know very much. We asked plenty of questions, he didn’t know the answers to anything ..they really simple questions to be fair! He brushed past half of the items on display. we tried to ask him a few things along the way about items he didn’t talk about. We didn’t get an answer. The ad on their Facebook page said it was a tour of museum and the tower. We were told at the end of the museum that that was it. The tower was locked up. It was €16 for us, the lady at reception tried to charge us €20. When we were driving out we saw a different man taking the others we were on the tour with up to the tower for the rest of the tour!!! The whole thing was very haphazard and unorganised. It was such a disappointment to my children. There was an ‘Easter egg hunt’. My kids got a small Easter egg at the end. The box was broken and torn. There are plenty of other interesting and well organised things to do in the town. Don’t waste...
Read moreSurprising discovery on a recent visit to Drogheda was this museum at Millmount. This is run by the Old Drogheda preservation society and they have certainly done a great job collecting together artefacts and stories about the towns long and varied history. There is a wealth to be discovered here both in the museum itself and the adjoining Martello tower ,now restored. The guides, some who are volunteers were very informative and helpful as we moved through the various displays dating back to Norman times.Make sure to see the hand made model of the Battle of Waterloo field highlighting the Drogheda regiment who fought there in 1815.I hadn't heard of this museum before my visit but it is really well worth a visit.Top attraction and there is parking on site.Very...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience at Millmount Museum in Drogheda! The exhibits were well-organized and informative, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I particularly enjoyed learning about the history of the area and exploring the old military fort that the museum is housed in. The panoramic views of the town and surrounding countryside from the top of the hill were breathtaking. It's clear that a lot of care has been taken to preserve and showcase the heritage of this fascinating part of Ireland. I would highly recommend a visit to Millmount Museum to anyone interested in history, culture, or just looking for a unique and...
