Ades Synagogue — Attraction in Jerusalem

My friends and I were invited to take part in the Sabbat prayers, and it was the loveliest remembrance of Israel I have.

The Kantor was great, singing in the Syrian-Halabi style (Mizrahi). The affection, energy and spirituality was great, and for us outsiders from Turkey, India, Germany we understood much better from the style of singing how the culture is embedded into the Middle East and what Islam and Christianity have gained from this Jewish culture. בבית הכנסת עדס לעדת החלבים בירושלים מתפללים את כל התפילות בנוסח יהדות חלב(סוריה). עיקר העניין סביב בית הכנסת הוא בתקופת הסליחות בחודש אלול, אז נערכים בבית הכנסת בכל יום עשרות ביקורים של תיירים בשעת אמירת הסליחות. בנוסף, בית הכנסת ידוע בשל היותו אחד מבתי האחרונים ששומרים על מסורת ארוכת שנים של שירת "הבקשות" בכל ליל שבת לפנות בוקר. כמו כן בשבת אחרי הצהריים מתקיים בבית הכנסת "עונג שבת" עם פייטנים מהשורה הראשונה. ניתן למצוא בבית הכנסת שיעורים איכותיים בין מנחה לערבית בכל יום ובשבת אף שיעורים נוספים. בכל התפילות בבית הכנסת מתפללים חזנים טובים מאוד השולטים...
