Basilica of Jesus the Adolescent — Attraction in Nazareth

I visited this place last week, and it was utterly great. Not only does the church look beautiful, but it is also located on the highest point of Nazareth, if I am not mistaken. That is to say, it overlooks the whole city. It was hard for me to get there at first, because I had to walk through the old neighborhood of Nazareth, which I am glad I got to see, as parts of it looked like the Old City of Jerusalem, which I was quite unaware of, except that there were no stores open or anything like in Jerusalem, and it was more of a maze really, with a lot of "dead ends". Ho raggiunto la basilica salesana di Gesù Adolescente in un caldo tramonto di fine agosto, partendo dalla chiesa dell'Annunciazione. Dopo aver attraversato il suck, una lunga scalinata che si inerpica tra le case della gente di Nazareth, lontano dal flusso ininterrotto di pellegrini e turisti, conduce dritta fino alla base del complesso dei salesiani. Una breve salita completa il cammino facendoti approdare direttamente nel cortile della scuola; ancora due rampe di scale, fiancheggianti la facciata dell'edificio scolastico, ti permettono di accedere ad un lungo terrazzo panoramico da cui è possibile godere della vista di tutta Nazareth. Il complesso termina con l'imponente facciata della basilica, che troneggia sulla città ed è visibile da quasi ovunque: lo stile semplice e le pietre candide ricordano le facciate realizzate dal Barluzzi, l'unica vera differenza è la doppia scalea che cinge la chiesa inferiore. Dalla sommità della scalinata si può godere della più bella vista di Nazareth! All'interno, la chiesa è molto semplice e il candore dei marmi la fa da padrone; al centro dell'abside della navata centrale si trova una splendida statua di marmo bianco che raffigura Gesù adolescente. I giochi di luce e ombre, sapientemente giocati, aumentano il senso di candore dell'edificio e si incrociano proprio sulla statua che, grazie ai raggi del sole che filtrano dal rosone in facciata e dalle monofore absidali, appare eterea.
