St. Peter's Church — Attraction in Tel-Aviv

St. Peter's Catholic Church at the Old City of Jaffa , Tel Aviv . A big Christian tourist pilgrimage center in Israel. The place where St Peter received the vision that Gentiles should be accepted into the Christian Faith without trying to change them (accounted in the Book of The Acts of The Apostles). The Church was built facing the sea from where the vision came to St Peter against the old Christian tradition of building Churches facing the East. Opposite the Church is a beautiful green park/garden called the Dream Mountain. A small 150-200m. rise from opposite of the St Peter's Church brings you to the peak of the mountain. Here the first Jews on arrival from Egypt constructed a statue representing the Jewish ancestral Dreams. The monument depicts on one side Abraam's sacrifice of the Lamb in place of Isaak as was earlier demanded by God; on the other side of the pillar of the monument was designed the symbol of Bethel - The vision/dream of Jacob at Bethel where he saw The Angels of the Lord rising and descending from Heaven with prayers and answers to the prayers of the faithfuls; Bridging the two pillars of the monument on the top is a bar on which is carved the movement of Israelites from Egypt: The fall of the walls of Jericho . This represents the Jewish Ancestral Dreams and their fulfilments , hence the dream mountain. A bit lower from this peak is the Dream Bridge connecting the two sides of the mountain. The exact date of construction of this bridge is not clear . It is an ancient pedestrian bridge believed to had been there before the advent of the Jews from Egypt. On one side of the bridge , facing the sea were carved 12 Zodiac Signs . It is believed for edges now that if one stands and place hands on his Sodiac Sign facing the sea and make wishes, all his wishes must come to fulfilments. כנסיית פטרוס הקדוש ,יש בישראל מספר כנסיות על שמו של פטרוס שהוא אחד מ12 השליחים של ישו. הכנסייה הרוסית באבו כביר נקראת על שמו כנסיית פטרוס הקדוש שבטבריה. וכמובן כנסיייה זו ביפו. מיהו פטרוס הקדוש - אחד מ 12 השליחים של ישו והאפיפיור הראשון ( קתולי ) פטרוס היה במקור דייג יהודי מטבריה בשם שמעון בר יונה ,שהמיר את דתו לנצרות. שתי אגדות מאוד מרכזיות בברית החדשה התרחשו ביפו , והפכו את עיר הנמל לקדושה לנצרות. על פי הסיפור ,אחת מנשות הקהילה הנוצרית טאביתה ( צביה בשמה היהודי ) חלתה ונפטרה . אנשי הקהילה ביפו שמעו שפטרוס מבקר בלוד והזעיקו אותו לעזרה. כשהגיע פטרוס ליפו הוא בחר להשתכן בביתו של בן המעמד הנמוך ,שמעון הבורסקאי ( מעבד העורות ). הוא ביקש שיביאו את גופתה של טאביתה ,אז כרע על ברכיו והתפלל . טאביתה התעוררה חזרה לחיים בזכות תפילותו. ( יש ביפו בית ספר על שמה ברחוב יפת 21 . לימים שנפטרה נקברה במתחם הכנסייה הרוסית באבו כביר ) הנס השני והמשמעותי יותר נקרא "נס החלום" כנראה האירוע שסלל את הפיכת הנצרות לדת נפרדת (יש האומרים שהנצרות יכלה להיות זרם ביהדות ). סיפור הנס פטרוס עלה לגג ביתו של שמעון הבורסקאי כדי להתפלל, ונרדם. בחלומו הופיע מלאך וציווה אותו לאכול מ " כל בהמות הארץ והחיה והרמש ועוץ השמים". פטרוס סירב וטען כי מעולם לא אכל " פיגול וטמא", אז ענה לו המלאך כי "את אשר טיהר האלוהים אתה אל תטמאנו". חלום זה היווה פתח לפעילות מיסיונרית של הפצת הנצרות והפך את פטרוס לאפיפיור הראשון. (אחת הסיבות שהמזבח פונה מערבה ,יש רק עוד כנסייה אחת נוספת שהמזבח פונה מערבה בכל שאר הכנסיות המזבח תמיד מזרחה לכיוון ירושלים) ביתו של שמעון הבוסקאי ממוקם כ 100 מטר מהכנסיה ובסוך אליו הוקמה במאה ה 4 כנסייה ביזנטית . הכנסייה הביזנטית נקראה גם " כנסיית פטרוס הקדוש" ,שנהרסה על ידי המוסלמית במאה ה 7 לספירה ונבנה במקומה מסגד. בשל המחלוקות בין המוסלמים לנוצרים הבית עומד היום נעול ,מעל ביתו של שמעון הבורסקאי לצד המגדלור ( ניתן לראות את צריח הכנסיה/מסגד בצבע חום לצד המגלור הצבוע באדום לבן). הביקור בכנסיה מרשים וניתן לראות מנורת 8 קנים לצד המזבח , מאחורי המזבח פרוש הים התיכון במלוא הדרו. כמי שמפעיל יאכטה העורכת סיורים מנמל יפו ,אני נפעם לראות כל יום מחדש את קו הרקיע הייחודי של יפו העתיקה ומעל הכל את הכנסייה המרשימה. גבעת כורכר משובצת בתי אבן הייחודיים ,אשר מגלמת בתוכה אלפי שנים של היסטוריה אנושית. מסגדים לצד כנסיות בהרמוניה מופלאה שאין דומה לה במזרח התיכון. מימינם בולט המגדלור הצבוע אדום ולבן ,אשר מזכיר למי ששכח שמדובר פה בנמל ⚓ אין דרך טובה מלסיים בשירו המהמם של יהודה פוליקר " איך קוראים לאהבה שלי" המתחיל במילים - " וזה עולם יפה ממש וזה מזרח תיכון חדש וזוהי יפו תל אביב ..." ניתן לראות גם ביקורות נוספות שלי באזור יפו המגדלור בית שמעון הבורסקאי נמל יפו פסל התפוז המרחף פסל הלוויתן של אילנה גור וסיפורו של יונה הנביא הכנסייה הארמנית סלע אנדרומדה מסגד הים סבייל אבו נבוט הסיפורים והאגדות המשולבים בביקור ביפו העתיקה וסביבתה, הם אלו שעושים את הביקור למעניין...
