Castello Aragonese e Museo Archeologico di Castro — Attraction in Castro

Perched on the cliff top, it is set in a beautiful location towering above the bay surrounded by the ancient town of Castro which is perched around it. The view from the battlements is spectacular in every direction. The museum is small but fascinating roaming its way back through the sites incredible and ancient history. Occupied since stone age times it has artefacts which date back thousands and thousands of years, unearthed from the site. The sight is supported by archeological evidence taken from the Greek, Roman, Norman, Ottoman and Aragonese periods! Esperienza deludente. Siamo stati presi in giro dalla guida sulla durata della visita che inizialmente all acquisto del biglietto ci aveva detto che durasse circa mezz'ora e che avremmo potuto visitare il complesso anche se fossimo appunto arrivati mezzora prima della chiusura. Detto questo siamo andati a cenare convinti che l'ultima visita inziasse alle 22.30. Quando ci siamo presentati ci hanno detto che la visita non era iniziata, quindi abbiamo comprato il biglietto e abbiamo seguito la guida. Per farla breve dopo aver visitato qualche sala del museo e una piccola stanza del castello insieme a un gruppo di persone già presente (tutto questo in poco tempo senza nemmeno avere la possibilità di guardare le varie esposizioni dei ritrovamenti storici) la guida davanti agli altri ha esordito dicendo che io e il mio ragazzo avremmo dovuto continuare per conto nostro perché il resto del gruppo aveva già visto tutto con relativa spiegazione dalle ore 22.00. Abbiamo visitato da soli senza nemmeno qualche supporto multimediale tipo audio guida le ultime stanze del museo e la terrazza del castello sempre di fretta perché dovevano chiudere senza nessuna guida. Peccato perché il sito è molto bello e culturalmente parlando merita una visita, sarebbe stato meglio accompagnati da persone oneste...

We got our tickets as a combo after visiting the Grottas of Zinzulusa, this small museum is very well made and presented, a must visit to your trip to Castro.
