Da Amedeo — Restaurant in Castro

Un ristorante stellato sarebbe più umile… Una serata a dir poco surreale, che guardando il menu di sicuro non ti aspetteresti. Eravamo in sei, abbiamo preso degli antipasti ed un primo: per quanto riguarda gli antipasti niente da dire. Con i primi cominciano i problemi… ne arrivano solo 3 su 6, 10 min dopo altri 2 e dopo il sesto. I primi 3, spaghetti al nero di seppia, erano completamente scotti, che, per il prezzo del menu, 25 euro, almeno la cottura giusta non sarebbe male, ma comunque abbiamo sorvolato. Gli altri due primi, arrivati successivamente, “linguine benedetto cavalieri ai ricci di mare” avevano un odore sgradevole di ricci andati a male, una volta assaggiati, anche il gusto era sgradevole, pieni di pepe e anche qui la pasta era completamente scotta. Allora abbiamo gentilmente chiesto al cameriere di portarli via perché non graditi ed abbiamo ordinato una frittura (indicata sul menu 18€). Ce ne sono arrivate due e quindi al cameriere abbiamo fatto notare che ne era stata ordinata solo una, ma ci ha risposto che ne avevano portate 2 per scusarsi dei due primi poco graditi. Successivamente una signora molto scortese, probabilmente la proprietaria, si è presentata al tavolo insinuando che nella pasta non c’era assolutamente pepe e che non capiva come mai non ci fosse piaciuta, facendo intendere che noi non capivamo nulla, con una arroganza a dir poco fastidiosa. La sorpresa finale l’abbiamo avuta sullo scontrino, redatto dalla stessa per niente gentile signora, che ci ha fatto pagare non una, ma due fritture al prezzo di 22 € e non 18€ come da menù. Quando abbiamo chiesto spiegazioni ha affermato che la frittura che ci avevano servito era una frittura di pesce fresco e quindi aveva un costo diverso. A mio avviso, sarebbe corretto scrivere sul menu il costo effettivo delle portate e non inserire sullo scontrino prezzi a piacimento! Non abbiamo continuato la discussione perché l’arroganza e la maleducazione della signora ed anche della collega era intollerabile… si consiglia un bagno di umiltà nel meraviglioso mare di castro, soprattutto alla signora, ma...

Warning for non-Italian speaking tourists: the lady who pretends to be the owner will try to ignore you when you ask for an explanation of the dishes. Just keep insisting is the best solution. She will eventually reluctantly explain the menu and finally pass the table service to the other personnel. (Apparently she doesn't like tourists very much, that's why you see her being remarkably friendly with the Italians) That costs 1 star, the other stars are given for the excellent dishes and the friendliness of the other Staff personnel doing their best to make up with Madame's bluntness. One of our favourite dinners from our trip!

Charming outdoor seating, very romantic. The staff were friendly and funny, fast service although it was busy. The food was delicious.

I had the red lobster linguine (there’s an option of red lobster and just lobster and the staff recommended the red lobster to me as it’s local) - and it was delicious! My partner had the spaghetti with squid ink which was also lovely.

We finished with the tiramisu although the other dessert looked gorgeous, but we didn’t have...
