While the beauty and care with which the gardens have been cultivated are truly admirable, my visit was unfortunately overshadowed by the fact that smoking is permitted within the grounds. Allowing visitors to smoke in such a serene, carefully preserved natural environment is not only detrimental to the air quality and atmosphere but also deeply detracts from the experience for those who come seeking peace, beauty, and inspiration.
The gardens, created over many years with such dedication and vision, deserve to be enjoyed in a setting that respects their tranquility and ecological integrity. Sadly, the presence of cigarette smoke made it difficult to fully appreciate the space and ambiance that Sir William Walton and Lady Susana Walton so lovingly brought to life.
I strongly urge the Foundation to reconsider its policy on smoking within the gardens. Implementing a non-smoking rule would preserve the healthful environment, enhance the experience for all visitors, and align more closely with the spirit of harmony and reflection that La Mortella was clearly...
Read moreA beautiful garden that would deserve full points for that alone, but inside there is a “birdhouse” where the birds are not well cared for. From the outside it was visible that the birds only have a few perches and branches to sit on, and otherwise there is nothing else in the concrete ”cages” for them. The door of the birdhouse says that a maximum of 4 people are allowed inside at the same time, but after watching for a while it was clear that there were always at least 10–12 tourists inside making noise. Also, the door to the birdhouse makes a loud bang sound when it is constantly slammed open and shut, which surely causes stress to the birds, who have no other option than to sit on a sad branch without shelter or peace.
It is very difficult to understand why you take such good care of the garden itself, yet not of the living creatures kept in within it. This speaks volumes about...
Read moreLa Mortella Garden is a must visit place in Ischia. The garden is full of exotique plants that we can admire and although we visited in the middle of August, it was not hot thanks to the shades of these plants. The garden is constructed using the hill and we need to climb it up but it is worth it. We can see more plants and have a wonderful view over the port of Folio. I can also recommend a restaurant in the garden. They have some snack menus and different drinks at a very reasonable price. I had a mixed salad, which was fresh, tasty, and copious. The staff was professional and nice. One negative aspect is the nearest bus stop. It is very dangerous as the bus stop is in the middle of a busy road with no pedestrian walks. We have a small child and we had to hold her very tightly and stick to the wall not to be crashed by a car while waiting...
