Aurum — Attraction in Pescara

Aurum has been the factory premises of a typical herb sweet liquor made in Pescara. Now it is used as a congress, meeting and exhibition center. The building has been recently renovated, so all the spaces look fresh and modern. The particular round architecture with huge windows gives a sense of openess and lightness everywhere. Recently visited this facility for attending a scientific conference. There I came to know that this building was a distillery facility turned to event venue. Da bambino, quando si usciva ancora a giocare con gli altri bimbi, trascorrevamo qualche ora a giocare nella pineta intorno all’edificio per rientrare a casa per i compitini con le ginocchia quasi sempre sbucciate. Al tempo la ferrovia passava poco distante e aveva un passaggio a livello a pochi metri di distanza dall’attuale Aurum. Sono vivi i ricordi delle operaie impiegate per la produzione del famoso liquore, dal sapore simile al francese grand marnier, sostare per la pausa pranzo intorno con i loro camici blu da lavoro. Dismessa l’attività’ il palazzo e’ rimasto chiuso per molti anni fino a quando, grazie all’ottima iniziativa del comune che ha preso in carico la situazione, ha subito una radicale ristrutturazione terminata con l’attuale configurazione.
