Synagogue Museum of Sant'Anna — Attraction in Trani

We decided to visit the Sinagogue Trani Museum, which costs €4 to enter. The history of the synagogue is definitely interesting, and it's worthwhile to learn about the Jewish community's past in Trani. However, it's not a place where you feel like you'd be missing anything if you didn't go. It's a small museum, and the visit is fairly quick. The one major upside, and a recurring theme on our trip, was that it offered a fantastic and cool refuge from the heat. The quiet, stone interior was a peaceful escape from the busy streets outside, and we were grateful for the chance to sit and enjoy the coolness for a while. Piccolo museo che ripercorre la storia della comunità ebraica di Trani attraverso pannelli didascalici, oltre a ritrovamenti archeologici. È stato allestito all'interno dell'antica Sinagoga Grande, nel cuore della Giudecca, costruita nel 1247. Essa divenne una chiesa cattolica, intitolata a Sant'Anna, sotto gli Angioini già alla fine dello stesso secolo. Della Sinagoga si vedono la cupola, i muri esterni ed il timpano. Viene narrata la storia della comunità ebraica della città: la provenienza, i continui soprusi ed i necessari spostamenti a cui fu sottoposta. Sono presenti l'epigrafe della fondazione, lapidi sepolcrali, reperti del periodo svevo ed angioino, quando la locale comunità ebraica superava le 200 famiglie. Il Museo è in convenzione con il Museo Diocesano: presentando ad uno il biglietto di visita dell'altro, si ha diritto alla riduzione sulla seconda visita. Qui il costo ad accesso intero è pari a 4€ ed è possibile pagare solamente in contanti, mentre per la transazione con il Pos è necessario spostarsi verso l'altra sede del polo museale.
