I would like to share my review of the beautiful seaside resort of Viareggio. Nestled on the Tuscan Riviera, this charming town is a true gem, offering a blend of coastal beauty, cultural exploration, and vibrant atmosphere. Viareggio is conveniently located near the provinces of Lucca (just 22 km to the west of Viareggio) and Pisa (approximately 23 km to the north), making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas. One of the standout features of Viareggio is its captivating promenade that stretches for several kilometers along the coastline. This stunning walkway is dotted with numerous restaurants and galleries, creating a lively and picturesque atmosphere. Whether you're taking a leisurely daytime stroll or enjoying a serene evening walk, the promenade never fails to impress with its beauty and charm, as evident from the captivating photographs. Viareggio's promenade is a true hub of activity, offering a variety of dining options and artistic spaces. The array of restaurants along the promenade offers a range of culinary delights, and with prices around 10 EUR, the dining experience is both delicious and reasonably priced. For those craving seafood, the beachside restaurants near the beginning of the promenade, adjacent to the harbor, stand out for their excellent grilled and fried seafood dishes. However, it's worth noting that the town's only significant drawback is the scarcity of public beaches along the promenade. While the private beaches are abundant and offer the convenience of amenities such as beach chairs, the closest publicly accessible beach is situated in the neighboring town of Lido di Camaiore, approximately 200 meters south of the end of the Viareggio promenade. Additionally, larger public beaches, including nudist-friendly options, are located several kilometers north of the Viareggio harbor. This might be a drawback for those who prefer easy access to public shores. Despite this drawback, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Viareggio. If you're considering a visit, especially due to the limited public beach options, having a bicycle could be advantageous. Exploring the area on a bike allows you to not only enjoy the beauty of Viareggio's promenade but also venture out to nearby towns like Lucca, Pisa, Massa, and Carrara, adding an extra layer of exploration to your experience. In conclusion, Viareggio is a must-visit destination that offers a delightful mix of seaside charm, culinary delights, and cultural excursions. While the shortage of public beaches might require some strategic planning, the vibrant atmosphere, beautiful promenade, and surrounding attractions make Viareggio a fantastic choice for a memorable vacation.
