I have asked for a refund for no services. That was a month ago. The Roman taxi driver dropped us off on the other side of the Colosseum so we had to walk around from the other side. we were now running behind from the traffic + the taxi & the walk to the entrance.
At the entrance gate a female staff member was not sympathetic even after I apologised for being late; I explained I had travelled 27 hours from Sydney Australia, arriving at Fiumicino the same morning.
A young gentleman tried to reason with her to give us a chance and in Italian she says, Don't feel sorry for them! Another staff young man said we could wait for a no-show. Again this woman from Coop Culture yells no they can not wait!, in Italian. And there were 2 no-shows.
This woman gave us the finger with both hands - told us to leave or she would call the cops. She was on a power trip. We were crushed. It is an understatement to say we were disappointed to be treated this way with no sense of hospitality our first night in Rome.
I understand there is overtourism in Italy right now and they are tired of tourists but to react with this unprofessional attitude is unkind. I spent thousands on my airfare and the visit to the Colosseum on my first night was snatched away. I got up at 4:45 to get the tickets online from the garbage website a month beforehand.
Remind your staff that the tourists are the customers. We would like to have a nice visit in your country with the reputation for friendly diplomacy. This experience was very sad & disappointing. I have been to Italy many times and this staff member is an embarrassment. Tourists should avoid the chick with frizzy blond hair...
Read moreI can't understand all the negative Ratings.. I booked my Ticket to Colosseum online (12€ adult +2€ online booking, 2€ reduced+2€ online booking, which are the prices you pay at the entrance). It was very easy and everthing was explained in Detail. Because i booked an reduced Ticket, i just got an e-mail with my reservation number. So i had to pick up my "real" ticket at the reservation desk (that was clearly explained in the E-Mail!). I wasn't sure where to go, so i asked a Guy from Colosseum staff and he told me the best way to pick up my reserved Ticket is at "Palatin entrance" (Just 3minutes Walk away from Colosseum, i also could have picked Up my Ticket at Colosseum Reservation desk, but i would have to wait there) & at Palatin Hill entrance i didn't have to wait a Minute!! :) So i started at Forum Romanum & Palatin Hill. I was 10minutes befor my reserved time at the entrance of the Colosseum & i didn't have to wait, not even ONE Minute!! :D ist was great, i Just had to wait two or three Minutes at the Security Check (where everyone has to wait) It's a great and official Website to buy Tickets to the Colosseum! I recommend ist to everybody! :) (Just notice: If you buy reserved or free Tickets online, you get an reservation Code per Mail and have to Change the Reservation into real ticketes at the Reservation desks. AND: If you want to visit the arena of Colosseum you always have to Take a Guides Tour, it's Not possible to Go tobthe Arena without a Guide) so have fun at Colosseum and buy your Tickets with time-reservation...
Read moreCoop-culture which runs the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine in Rome is the most poorly managed and intentionally disrespecting organization of history, of visitors, of democracy, and of every illuminating aspect of Western culture, every aspect that it is meant to protect, Coop-culture spoils and defames. It is a shame upon the Roman municipality and Italian state. Whether it is run by the mafia or corrupt corporate and political influences, I do not know. However, the illiterate gladiators of 2000 years ago, would run a much better ticketing office and more just, than that which Coopculture manages.
I just spoke with one of their representatives who not only refused to help, but also refused to share the number of any other staff person or manager who might be helpful.
Given that these monuments belong to the Italian state, and the heritage of the West, I find it ethically revolting that they can be used according to such singularly monetized, and private means.
I have worked as a tour guide leading groups into the Colosseum for more than a decade, and I sincerely hope that I never have to return, not because the Colosseum lacks any of the majesty or the intrepid, yet inspiring beauty of ancient Rome, but because it is so poorly managed, one can’t help, but feel more helpless than the animals who are captured in order to be...
