I went with my class to the Palazzo Maffei house museum in Verona  last Thursday. In this Building, in the north-west part of Piazza delle Erbe, since 2020 there is a house museum, in fact at the beginning it was a house but now it houses a private art collection from Mr Carlon. Before all the paintings and sculptures were stored in Carlon’s house, but now you can admire this marvelous collection for only 15 euro. All the exhibition goes from the work of Magritte to Modigliani and also to Picasso, and contains over 600 between paintings and statues organized in different theme zones like the first passions zone. At the end of our trip for only 1 euro more we went up to the balcony, from which we admired the charming skyline of the city.

I found this trip an inspiring adventure in which we enjoy the beautiful operas  in an historical palace of the city center. There were so many paintings, I’m not able to describe them. My favorite ones are the 3D Cloud and the leaf tree and i really appreciated the representation of Carlon’s house, the original way the paintings are organized in the owner’s house. Go to this unmissable experience in Verona, it’s time and...

Absolutely wonderful! A must and a true delight. The palazzo itself is quite stunning, with its facade, its elliptic spiral staircase and the trompe l'oeil ceiling in the museum lobby, to mention just a few of its details. This museum has just become one of my favourites, similar in some ways to the Peggy Guggenheim musem in Venezia. The artwork is from the stunningly refreshing and eclectic collection of Luigi Carlon. What made this museum so remarkable and meaningful for both my husband and myself, was the orginality of the curation, executed superlatively by Gabriella Belli. Juxtaposing modern with antique works so that the dialogue between them was just beyond audible - for example, Giorgio de Chirico's Gladiators with an ancient warrior's helmet alongside. On side tables, fanciful arrangements of objects from widely differing eras and styles that must converse when the museum closes, like the toys in Tom Thumb and Toy Story. This museum made our last day in Verona memorable, made the modern Piazza Erbe sing with images from its storied past. I'm lucky that my phone battery died when I'd already taken pictures...

In Verona I recently visited palazzo Maffei with my class. Palazzo Maffei is a museum of ancient and modern art together which I think it's really interesting. Originally the artworks were part of the house of a collector. Because of that in the museum there were also magnificent and other every day objects decorated by artists. The exhibits were divided in rooms with different colors, in every room there were paintings about a different topic. It was really inspiring. The museum was on two floors and it also had a third one with a balcony from were we admired the majestic view of the city. The museum had a really massive collection of arts but my favourite painting was "La strage degli innocenti" by Guido Reni. I really liked it because of the way the artist portraits the emotions. It was an amazing visit and I think more people should visit palazzo Maffei for the stunning variety and importance of...

If you are in verona, this is a must go. This is the best house museum I have been in by far, which probably speaks more to all the others I have been in as at the time, I thought I had not been in any other house museums. The art pieces come from a private collection that has been turned into this museum. Each room has its own artistic thematology and feeling simultaneously distinct from one another while also making a cohesive journey through the museum. The room layout is interesting, curving on itself and yet taking you through a mostly linear journey. The collection is quite comprehensive , that I didn't believe it was a private collection at first! Finally, the staff are super friendly. I have never had anyone before trying to find what kind of discount I could qualify for! In the end, I got a discount because I had bought tickets for the opera in the arena.

The Palazzo Maffei Casa Museo is hosted in the astonishing 17th century baroque palace overlooking the majestic medieval “Piazza Erbe”. It hosts a newly renovated museum with an incredibly wide range of different artworks from Roman sculptures to Andy Warhol’s pop art and Futurism. Most notably a beautiful white marble head sculpture of the Roman emperor Marco Aurelio 2nd century AD, Pablo Picasso’s “Femme assise” 1953, Warhol’s “One Multicolored Marylin” 1979, Giorgio De Chirico’s “Il saluto dell’amico lontano” 1916, Lucio Fontana’s “Concetto Spaziale, Attesa” 1961. Absolutely worth the ticket (13.50€ Adults). Tip: Admire the helix-shaped spiral staircase which does not have any central support, similar to the worldwide famous Bramante’s 16th century Vatican museums one. A pure architectural marvel.
