Oakland Park boasts a vibrant artistic spirit, with no fewer than 13 theater companies within a 5 mile radius. Several of these companies have garnered national recognition for their innovative productions and talented performers. However, despite ongoing development projects, Oakland Park lacks a dedicated performing arts center – a crucial element to cultivate and showcase this flourishing creative energy. This center would not only provide a permanent stage for existing companies, but also offer a platform for new artistic ventures, educational programs for children, and community engagement initiatives. Imagine the socioeconomic boom OP could have if we strategically placed a cultural art center in downtown OP. With the future GoBrightline stop next to Funky Buddha, OP would become an entertainment beacon connected from Orlando to Miami. Let’s build a cultural art center right on this field.
