감사하게도 입장료가 무료로 되어있어 즐겁게 관람하였습니다. 처음에는 단순히 산이나 숲에 대한 내용만 있을것으로 생각했는데... 그런 산과 숲을 어떻게 유용하게 이용하는지, 그런 숲을 이루는 나무와 동물들을 비롯하여 생태계를 자세히 배울수 있는 아주 유익했던 장소였습니다. 예전부터 느끼던 것이 일본도 한국처럼 국토의 절반 이상이 산으로 이루어져 있는데 이토록 산림을 유용하게 이용하여 부가가치를 생산한다는게 참 부러웠는데 이번 방문으로 확실히 알수 있었습니다. 소나무만 무성한 산림이 보기에는 좋을지 모르겠지만, 산불이라던지, 산사태라던지, 산림 생태계에 나쁜점이 많고 소나무 특성상 목재활용이 어려워 임업에도 큰 이익이 없는 한국과 다르게 치밀하게 산림을 관리 보존하여 산에서 나오는 목재, 임산물, 야생동물 등 모든것을 체계적으로 활용 가공하여 경제적으로 이익을 창출하는 모습을 보니 역시 일본이 산림 강국임을 다시한번 알수 있었습니다.
