I wish I could have visited more often and tried more dishes, but there’s always a line for this restaurant and they have very short hours…

I only dined here once and I ordered the hotate curry and the apple dumplings.

Curry was good, the portion was really big I don’t think it’s meant for one person lol.

I got the dumplings because Aomori is known for their apples and I thought it was an interesting ingredient in dumplings. They were not bad, you can definitely taste the apple, it’s almost like eating dumplings filled with Apple cider, it was just not my thing though.

I would have loved to try the sashimi dishes, a lot of people were ordering them and they looked really fresh and price was...

I found this place through a Japanese vlogger in Youtube and it did seem to be very popular for locals and tourists alike. Its main specialty are scallops, so go away if seafood is not your preference. You can have them either raw or fried (and from there in all sorts of presentations). The raw are fine, but you need to have tolerance to seafood because this is a load of several raw stuff. For the night shift they close at 7 I think, so I thought it wouldn’t be so crowded as they are open relatively early. There were at least 5 people in line before me when I got there at 17:30 and I waited like 20 minutes. After I left the line was...

My wife and I arrived in Aomori, and we were out searching for good restaurant. We found this restaurant, a number one rank in Aomori by Jalan. From the outside, this restaurant looks really simple, a humble family style restaurant. We ordered two kinds of hotatate sets. Indeed their Hotate (scallop) was top of the class, the freshest and best tasted scallop I had ever tried so far. The texture and sweetness of the meat is simply amazing. Apparently this is a very popular restaurant, we went there around 5:30pm, to avoid line up. If you loves scallop, you can’t miss the Hotate...

We tried Miso Hotate teishoku (set meal with rice and side dish), Hotate ramen and Fried Hotate. Taste wasn’t bad but overall quite salty in both Miso Hotate and Ramen. Miso Hotate has lots of eggs and bit of Uni garnish, but very strong seasoning overall. Hotate Ramen was fine but again very salty. Expected to enjoy clean Hotate taste broth but it was rather salty broth with strong fishy taste. Overall we think there is not much of unique taste in it. It’s nice to try if you’re around and no queue, but not worth waiting long if you’re expecting something unique.
