Michi no Eki Aso Tourist Information Center and farmer market — Attraction in Aso

Great visitor centre with knowledgeable guides. We visited because we wanted information about visiting the crater safely and hikes and the area. We were assisted by an English speaking guide who had a lot of knowledge about the area and adviced us really well on different hikes for different durations and fitnesslevels, and gave us all the information we needed to get to and from the starting point. We went on a beautiful hike in a non-crowded area and we had a wonderful day. Highly recommended to visit before going on hikes...

Visited Late Jun 2025. Next to Ah Soo train station. Thought it was a museum but it is not. Kind of small supermarket with a bit of tourist stuffs. Closes early. Was there half an hour before it closed and they reduced the price of food dramatically. I bought a Yogurt there and...

平日でも昼過ぎには混んでいて駐車困難な道の駅。歩いて行ける温泉施設が近くにあり、車中泊利用者が多い。車中泊利用者に占拠されているため、駐車場は直ぐに満車になってしまう。本来のドライバーの休憩場所という役割が困難な道の駅。 産直と物産に力を入れて居るが上記の理由で、利用するなら開店直前か開店直後が良いです。

博物館と呼称していますが、それはこの地域を指しての事で、この施設は博物館ではありません。また、阿蘇市には資料館の類もないので、今を見る感じる以外はありません。過去を学ばないのは熊本県の特徴です。温故知新を知らないのです。 では、未来を見ているかと言えばそうとも言えません。

世界中に言える事ですが、獣害が農業に致命的なダメージをもたらしています。 阿蘇地域は世界農業遺産「阿蘇の草原の維持と持続的農業」と認定されていますが、獣害による食害が続けば離農に繋がります。阿蘇カルデラでは、近年景観を悪くする耕作放棄地のソーラーパネルが増えています。獣害は持続的農業を妨げるが、具体的な対策は取られていません。 獣害に限らず担い手不足もあり、今後も離農は増えて行くでしょう。ソーラーパネルだらけになれば、世界農業遺産が解除される可能性...
